Q:1 WHAT IS A HOLACRACY ?

Meaning of Holacracy :
Holacracy is a system of corporate governance whereby members of a team or business
from distinct, autonomous , yet symbolic, team to accomplish tasks and company goals.

The holacracy concept was dreamed up by Brain Robertson , the founder of a

Pennsylvania software startup its name comes from the Greek word HOLOS ,a single ,
autonomous ,self sufficient unit.

A simple explanation of Robertson’s vision of a holacracy is : Workers as a

partners , job descriptions as roles and partners organized into circles.

Explanation;
In a nutshell , its an organizational system with no job titles , no managers , and no top
down hierarchy with upper, middle, lower levels where decisions can get hung up. The idea
behind this new type of arrangement is to focus on the work that needs to be done and not
on some hierarchical structure where great ideas and suggestions can get lost in the
channel of reporting.

Q: 2 WHATS BENEFITS DO YOU SEE TO AN ORGANIZATION WHERE THERE

ARE NO JOB TITLES , NO MANAGERS , AND NO HIERARCHY ?
DeCenzo, and Mary Coulter :

Increased employee autonomy and participation , reduced organizational

complexity and bureaucracy , and improved organizational agility and
adaptability.
One of the key benefit from an organization where there are no job titles, no managers
and no hierarchy is everyone will be equal . Everyone would have the same task and get
some pay .Thus there would be no issue with being unfair in the organization. Without
titles or a hierarchy , anyone can initiate a project and implement innovative ideas.

Explanation:
The job better then any “Manager” to work

 Continuously.
 Creatively.
 Efficiently.

Is a good as a long as there is a way to keep standards high. The last time Zappos wants
is for a “slacker” mentality to take hold.

Q:3 WHAT CHALLANGES DOES A HOLACRATIC APPROACH HAVE ?

The book mentions several challenges that a holacratic approach may face :

 Potential confusion
 Conflict
 Over roles and responsibilities.
 Feasibility of implementation.
 Complexity
 Resistance to change

Other challenges they’re still trying to figure to figure out include who has the ultimate
authority to hire fire and decide pay. Not all organization with be feasible to have
holacracy implemented particularly on large scale organization.

The hope is that eventually the authority for each those roles will be done within the
holacratic framework as well.

Q: 4 DISSCUS WHY YOU WOULD OR WOULD NOT LIKE TO WORK IN AN

ORGANIZATION ?
Organization is a place which works according to the plans which are set up for
fulfillments. The policies of an organization and the extra benefits which the employee wish
for Structure, Physical environment, Line of communication, Treatment of employs

,Recruitment and promotion ,Policies towards the communities. Some where , all these
best things are reversely proportional sometimes take the undue advantage of the benefits
provided to them.

Explanation:

Working on a holacratic organization or not is dependent on the preference of an

employee. If someone prefers to be able to decide on not having a boss , this would be
beneficial however some people would prefer to have someone to guide them on the work
they need to do particularly if the nature of work is entirely new to them. Thus working for
a holacratic organization might not be effective for these king of people.

“Everybody is expected to lead and be an entrepreneur in there own roles and holacracy
is empowers them to do so”. The hope is that eventually the authority for each those roles
will be done within the holacratic framework as well.
