Civilthon: Online registrations started on 12 August 2024. Deadline for
registration as 23 August 2024. Screening, Online Q & A session on 30 August
2024. 23 out of 45 participated teams from other colleges have been selected.
From CIT 5 out of 10 batches have been shortlisted. A total of 27 batches and
114 students have participated in the Civilthon at CIT on 6 th September 2024
along with 21 Mentors – 15 Civil Engineering Faculty with 6 Industrial Experts.
Problem statement was chosen in 3 allied Themes.
Theme I: Practical applications that is Applied Civil Engineering
Theme II: Software and computational focus that is Civil Engineering
Design and Analysis
Theme III: Interdisciplinary Focus with Civil Engineering Innovation

Output:

1. The hackathon likely generated a wide range of innovative solutions to real-


world civil engineering challenges. Civilthon provided an opportunity for
students to collaborate with peers, industry experts, and faculty, fostering
teamwork and communication skills.

2. The involvement of industry experts as mentors and judges exposed


participants to real-world industry challenges, best practices and facilitated
knowledge exchange between academia and industry, leading to potential
collaborations and research partnerships.

3. The panel discussion on sustainability practices likely highlighted the


importance of sustainable engineering solutions and encouraged participants
to address sustainability challenges, such as waste reduction, energy

efficiency, and climate change mitigation. Civilthon raised awareness among
participants about the importance of sustainable practices in civil engineering.

Convener Feedback:

 The Civilthon'24 was a resounding success, demonstrating the dedication


and hard work of the organizing committee. The event provided an
excellent platform for students to showcase their creativity, problem-
solving skills, and teamwork.
 Hackathon offered a unique opportunity for students to apply their
theoretical knowledge to real-world challenges. The mentorship sessions
and industry interactions further enriched the learning experience.

Students Feedback:

 Many students appreciated the opportunity to work on real-world


problems and apply their theoretical knowledge in practical scenarios.
They found the hands-on experience and access to various laboratories
extremely valuable.
 Participants valued the guidance and support from internal mentors and
found their feedback helpful in refining their projects. The availability of
departmental laboratories and equipment was highlighted as a significant
benefit.
 The organization of the event, including the scheduling and
communication, was generally well-received.

Future Betterment:

 Participants suggested extending the hackathon to two days and


providing accommodation to enhance the overall experience.
 Provide more resources, such as specialized software and hardware with
good internet connection, to facilitate advanced project development.
 Organize workshops or tutorials on specific technologies or tools to
enhance participants' skills
