Course Description:
This course provides a comprehensive understanding of statistics and data visualization using Tableau. Students will learn
probability theory, statistical analysis techniques, and how to interpret and present data effectively. They will gain hands-on
experience with Tableau software, creating visualizations and interactive dashboards. The course emphasizes the principles of
data visualization and storytelling, enabling students to communicate insights clearly. By the end of the course, students will
have the skills to analyze data, create compelling visualizations, and make data-driven decisions. This course prepares students
for careers in data analysis, business intelligence, and related fields, equipping them with essential statistical and data
visualization skills.
Introduction to probability theory and its applications in statistical learning. Concepts of random variables, probability
distributions, and their properties. Conditional probability and independence. Discrete and continuous probability distributions
(e.g., binomial, Poisson, normal distributions).Central limit theorem and its significance.
Descriptive statistics, Measures of central tendency (mean, median, mode), Measures of dispersion (variance, standard
deviation, range), Estimation: point estimation, confidence intervals, and hypothesis testing ( Z-test, t Test).Introduction to
categorical data analysis: contingency tables and chi-square tests, Correlation

Course Outcomes:
1. Students will be able to comprehend the foundational concepts of probability theory and statistical inference. They will be
adept at using different discrete and continuous probability distributions, measures of central tendency, etc
2. Students will learn how to conduct both descriptive and inferential statistical analysis. They will gain skills in estimating
population parameters, building confidence intervals, and hypothesis testing
3. Students will gain proficiency in connecting to data, building visualizations, creating calculations to enhance data, and
using maps to improve insight. They will also learn how to create an ad hoc analysis environment.
4. students will be equipped with advanced data visualization skills, will know how to create complex chart types, perform
geographic visualization, execute advanced calculations, prepare data, and design interactive dashboards in Tableau.
5. Students will learn how to transform raw data into compelling narratives. They will be skilled in applying storytelling
techniques, using story points and annotations, and designing interactive presentations with Tableau
