3. You are provided with a clamp stand, a meter ruler, a spiral spring and masses
of 50g, 150g, 200g, 250g and 300g.

a) Arrange the clamp stand and the spring as shown in figure 2
b) Use the ruler to find the length of the unstretcher spring and record the result
in table 1
c) Hang a 50g mass on the spring.
d) Calculate the extension in the spring caused by the 50g mass.
e) Record the result in table 1.
f) Repeat steps (c), (d) and (e) using the other masses and record all the results
in table 1.

1. You are provided with:


 2 dry cells
 6 connecting wires
 Voltmeter
 Ammeter
 Crocodile clips
 100 cm nichrome wire

a) Connect the circuit as shown below

b) Measure 100 cm Nichrome wire and connect it in the gap. Close the switch,
read and record voltmeter and ammeter readings in the table below.
c) Repeat steps (a) and (b) using different length of Nichrome wire i.e. 80 cm,
60 cm, 40 cm and 20 cm respectively.
d) Record the readings of the ammeter and voltmeter in table 2.
e) Plot a graph of resistance against length.
