Morning Session:
It started with the topic on “Policy Guidelines on the Implementation of Special Program in the Arts”, this was
discussed by Ms. Sunshine Villegas. At the end of the session, teacher-participants performed a role-play on these
functions: as a school head, SPA coordinator and EPS showcasing how to convince the SDS in implementing SPA in the
school. These really gave us ideas on how to sell SPA as a valuable part in the school program. The second speaker in the
morning session is Mr. Adel Cambangay Jr. was welcomed to talk about Re-visitation of Physical Fitness in the New
Normal. This topic will be used to redesign physical fitness as we need to reinvent and improve learning scaffolds that will
carry out an effective discussion regarding this endeavor. Lots have been asked and gradually addressed and came out
with a resolution the desire to change the image of Physical Fitness in the school. The third speaker, Krista Mari M. Llenas,
tackled the Comprehensive Sexuality Education. This CSE needs to be reinforced religiously to be consistent in the
implementation of the program. Questions were raised, experience were shared by the participants is worth hearing.
Afternoon Session:
To increase more interactive discussions, ma’am Juvy Turno-Importante spoke on Partnering with Parents and
Guardians in Promoting Students’ Well-Being. She also shared a form she created in order for the teachers to simplify the
usage of forms in documentation. The second topic was Teaching Self Respect and Positive Attitude and Behavior Towards
others, this was discussed by Dr. Jerly Eluna herself, our EPS-MAPEH. She shared practical tips on how to practice self-
respect which could be very helpful in dealing with our everyday life. The third and last speaker, Doreen O. Dechosa, RN,
Division Medical Section, spoke on Proper Nutrition and Healthy Diet You are what you eat, as she quoted from a famous
saying, explained that it is important to eat good food in order to be healthy and fit.
Before the training and capacity building a short program was initiated, participants gathered in the plenary hall.
Impressions were delivered, group presentations were highlighted, and the distribution of certificates filled the last day with
great enthusiasm and excitement. The 3-day training ended with so much satisfaction and looking forward for another
reunion of MAPEH Teachers and taking another avenue for bringing out the better version of ourselves.
Kudos to all the Technical Working Group headed by our dynamic Dr. Jerly H. Eluna and to all the men and women
behind this learning opportunity. I am so grateful for this opportunity.
