Inish Aran
The Salish, a First Nations People on Vancouver Island, have created graphically stunning
knitted jackets for 100 years. The Cowichan sweater developed in the valley of the same name
early in the last century from the hands of native spinners and knitters. While some were
originally taught to knit by early Scottish settlers in the late 1800s, the design talents of the
native artisans rose to the creation of the beautiful hand-spun, bulky knit, shawl-collared,
naturally colored jackets that are favorites around the world. In tribute to the blending of
these cultures, Northwest Celtic incorporates the garment style of the original Salish
Sweaters with Celtic designs.

bloomsbury jacket
The Bloomsbury area of London, near the British Museum, was home in the early twentieth
century to a group of writers who came to be known as the Bloomsbury group. These were
young, modern thinkers who sought a cultural renaissance as the Victorian influences passed
away. This jacket is a tribute to the group.
