(A) 2.5 (B) 3 (C) 5 (D) 6
16 If the probability of success is 38%, then the probability of failure is 1
(a) 38% (b) 62% (c) 52% (d) 68%

(a) 1 /45 (b) 2 /15 (c) 1 /9 (d) 4 /45
DIRECTION: In the question number 19 and 20, a statement of assertion (A) is followed by a
statement of Reason (R). Choose the correct option.
(a) Both Assertion (A) and Reason (R) are true and Reason (R) is the correct explanation
of Assertion (A).
(b) Both Assertion (A) and Reason (R) are true but Reason (R) is not the correct
explanation of Assertion (A).
(c) Assertion (A) is true but Reason (R) is false.
(d) Assertion (A) is false but Reason (R) is true.
19 Assertion: If the co-ordinates of the mid-points of the sides AB and AC of ∆ABC are D(3,5) and 1
E(-3,-3) respectively, then BC = 20 units.
Reason: The line joining the mid points of two sides of a triangle is parallel to the third side and
equal to half of it.
20 Assertion: The HCF of two numbers is 5 and their product is 150. Then their LCM is 40. 1
Reason: For any two positive integers a and b, HCF (a, b) x LCM (a, b) = a x b.
SECTION B
21 Find the zeroes of the quadratic polynomial 3x2 – x – 4 and verify the relationship between 2
the zeroes and the coefficients.
22 With vertices A, B and C of ΔABC as centres, arcs are drawn with radii 14 cm and the three 2
portions of the triangle so obtained are removed. Find the total area removed from the triangle.
OR
A chord of a circle of radius 10cm subtends a right angle at the centre. Find the area of minor
segment. (Use 𝜋 = 3.14)
23 A box contains 90 discs which are numbered from 1 to 90. If one disc is drawn at random 2
from the box, find the probability that it bears (i) a two-digit number (ii) a perfect
square number.
24 Prove that b2x2 – a2y2 = a2b2, if x = a secθ and y = b tanθ. 2
OR
25 The altitude of a right triangle is 7 cm less than its base. If the hypotenuse is 13 cm, find 2
the other two sides.
SECTION C
26 A train covered a certain distance at a uniform speed. If the train would have been 6 km/h faster, it 3
would have taken 4 hours less than the scheduled time. And, if the train were slower by 6 km/hr ;
it would have taken 6 hours more than the scheduled time. Find the length of the journey.
OR
Anuj had some chocolates, and he divided them into two lots A and B. He sold the first lot at the
rate of ₹2 for 3 chocolates and the second lot at the rate of ₹1 per chocolate, and got a total of
₹400. If he had sold the first lot at the rate of ₹1 per chocolate, and the second lot at the rate of ₹4
for 5 chocolates, his total collection would have been ₹460. Find the total number of chocolates he
had.
27 Given that √3 is irrational, prove that 5 + 2√3 is irrational. 3
28 If the points A (6, 1), B (8, 2), C (9, 4) and D (p, 3) are the vertices of a parallelogram, taken in 3
order, find the value of p.

A pole has to be erected at a point on the boundary of a circular park of diameter 13 metres in such
a way that the differences of its distances from two diametrically opposite fixed gates A and B on
the boundary is 7 metres. Is it possible to do so? If yes, at what distances from the two gates
should the pole be erected?
33 Prove that If a line is drawn parallel to one side of a triangle to intersect the other two sides in 5
