It aims to provide students with an appreciation of a broad range of styles in the various disciplines with consideration on their elements and principles, and engage them to an integrative approach in studying arts.
Digital art has enabled artists to unearth their creativity further. Artists can advance their work and improve their talent through new materials, mediums and techniques. Digital art has expanded the possibilities through augmented reality exhibitions and virtual reality installations, among other avenues. The Contemporary Arts

Photography and digital are the most accessible and manipulated art form used by billions of people around the globe. Since technology has changed photography, the camera has evolved in different sizes. With the invention of mobile devices with camera , it can ow fit to anyone’s pocket so that it is now the most convenient image-taking gadget. The images taken by the mobile device can be uploaded instantly through Facebook, Twitter, email and many other ways with digital intervention. It is very common to see online photos of anything and everything that human beings do: what they have for breakfast daily activities, celebrations, and everything else that can be visually recorded and uploaded for the world to see. Sharing photos is a good thing. Seeing beautiful photographs is good for the spirit and can make the viewer appreciate people, thing, and nature. Contemporary photography is of different types: (1) Nature Photography enables us to view landscapes, places and objects that we never encounter in our lifetime. Nature can be captured in tis pure form.(2) Photography that depicts reality can be present reality in its true form. If words can describe a scene , photography has the power to show it. (3) Photographic alteration which offer an illusion and this challenges the standpoint of fidelity of appearance. This creates, according to Feldman, “an illusion of objectivity and factual authenticity that establishes photography as the most powerful instrument if information and education the world has ever seen. Photographic devices can be used for entertainment, documentation, reporting but as these devices offer instant technology that can convert and edit images at one touch. (4) Mobile Photography is taking pictures using a mobile phone. Depending on the cellphone camera quality and image resolution, photos can be printed as big 8”X10”. Through the use of mobile phone effects, the photo was turned into a negative image. Added to this were digital images of shades and cap which are also available in the mobile phone at the touch of a finger. (5) Photojournalism is the type of photo is used in journalism. There are photos that accompany narratives in the newspaper, magazines, and digital media to give the reader a view of persons, places, and event. An example is the photo of Pope Francis. Never in the human history has a Roman Catholic Pope seen wearing a raincoat cheerfully waiving at a crowd under heavy rainfall ( Jan. 17, 2015 – Tacloban)
Digital Art is an art form that uses digital technology as an essential part of the creative or presentation process. We have seen these in cartoon shows on television and lately, in movies with digital intervention. Digital artwork can be posted online through the internet and distributed electronically in a split of a second and can be viewed by anyone who is hooked to cyberspace. Some artists print out their digital art and exhibit them as two-dimensional artwork on the wall. There are different types of digital art: (1) Electronic- aided Digital Art uses technology to aid in art production. Ex. CGI ( Computer Generated Imagery) effects, 3D printing, digital drawing, digital painting, virtual media artworks. (2) Non-figurative Digital Art – contemporary artists who engage in non-figurative digital art disregard figures and any semblance to nature, naturalism, and realism. They use geometric shapes, lines, spaces, movement, color in their art composition. (3) Fantasy digital Art – if non figurative digital art avoids figures, fantasy artists have many figures, landscapes, objects and other things that are not seen in the real world. They create worlds, universe, imaginary creatures and combine colors that transports the viewers to another world that seem boundless and immensely broad. They take inspiration from myths. Legends, fantasy stories or create their own visual narrative. (4) Digital Art as Design – there is a great demand for digital art from the business and commercial industry, leisure and recreation, airline and shipping industry, communication and media. Contemporary art design is popular among people in urban places. Because of digital form. These designs are easily spread and shared electronically.

3. 4. Make your own digital art using a cellphone. Take photos of the following: a. self portrait b. landscape, and c. people in action
After the images using the cellphone’s applications and available designs. Print them out and provide a title for each image. Prepare for a class exhibit using digital art. Do not forget to sign your artwork on the lower right-hand corner of the photograph. Books
