BUBUR AYAM

JAKARTA
(JAKARTA STYLE CHICKEN PORRIDGE)
Bubur ayam Jakarta consists of rice porridge with a

lot of toppings; which are shredded chicken, fried
soy beans, green onion, celery leaves, fried shallot,
and shrimp chips. It is served with savory yellow
soup, and if you like it spicy you can add sambal
(chili paste). Bubur ayam Jakarta also often eaten
with other side dishes like skewered quail eggs,
chicken heart, and chicken intestines.
SOTO AYAM
(INDONESIAN CHICKEN NOODLE SOUP)
Soto ayam consists of yellow soup made from

chicken stock and spices, shredded chicken,
vermicelli noodle, bean sprout, cabbage, tomato and
green onion. This dish is usually paired with hard
boiled egg and often eaten with a little bit of lime.

BAKSO

(MEATBALL SOUP)
Bakso is usually made from ground beef. It was an

Indonesian food originated from China. Bakso have a
clear, savory soup made from beef stock and usually
paired with two kinds of noodle; yellow noodle and
vermicelli noodle. Bakso often eaten during lunch or
dinner time.
SATE

(MEAT SKEWER)
Sate or satay is an Indonesian food made from many

kinds of meat. You can use chicken, beef, goat, fish
or even buffalo! The meat is skewered then grilled
on burning charcoal. This dish is usually served with
Indonesian sweet soy sauce and peanut sauce, also
often paired with Indonesian rice called lontong.
AYAM GORENG
(FRIED CHICKEN)
Ayam goreng is Indonesian fried chicken which was

marinated with special spices before it was deep
fried. It is usually served with rice, sambal (chili
paste) and various veggies called lalapan (ex.
cucumber, cabbage, and basil).
NASI GORENG
(INDONESIAN FRIED RICE)
Nasi goreng is Indonesian style fried rice that slightly

different from the Chinese version. Nasi goreng uses
Indonesian sweet soy sauce, which makes it taste
more sweet, flavorful, and have brown color. Nasi
goreng have many kinds, depends on the fillings;
including egg, chicken, beef, goat, or even beef
intestine!

SIOMAY AYAM
(CHICKEN SHUMAI)
Siomay ayam is an Indonesian food originated from

China. It is made from ground chicken added with
starch and then steamed. In Indonesia, siomay ayam
usually served with tofu, bitter melon, cabbage,
potato and hard boiled egg. This dish is often paired
with peanut sauce.
PEMPEK

PALEMBANG
(PALEMBANG STYLE FISH CAKE)
Pempek Palembang is a traditional fish cake made of ground

mackerel. The ground mackerel is mixed with other
ingredients, shaped, boiled and then fried until the skin is
crispy. Pempek Palembang has a lot of shape, my favorite is
Kapal Selam (lit. submarine) which is filled with egg. This
dish is served with special sauce called cuko, made of
Indonesian brown sugar and tamarind.

KLEPON

(PANDAN BALL WITH
BROWN SUGAR FILLING)
Klepon is a dessert made of glutinous rice flour and

filled with brown sugar. They are green because
the dough is mixed with pandan leaves extract.
Before served, klepon needs to be covered in
grated coconut.
MARTABAK MANIS
(INDONESIAN PANCAKE
WITH VARIOUS TOPPINGS)
Martabak manis is an Indonesian dessert similiar

to pancake. The difference is that martabak manis
is more thick and have various toppings, including:
chocolate, cheese, peanut, red glutinous rice,
coconut, fruit jam, nutella, and many more!
