In the question number 19 and 20, a statement of Assertion (A) is followed by a statement of Reason
(R). Choose the correct option.
A) Both assertion (A) and reason (R) are true and reason (R) is the correct explanation of
assertion (A)
B) Both assertion (A) and reason (R) are true but reason (R) is not the correct explanation of
Assertion(A).
C)Assertion (A) is true but reason (R) is false.
D)Assertion (A) is false but reason (R) is true.
19 Assertion (A): In the figure PT is a tangent to the circle with center O 1
such that OP=6cm and ∠OPT=30°.The length of PT is 3√ 3cm.
Reason (R): The length of the tangents drawn from the external point of a
circle are equal.
20 Assertion (A): A hemispherical depression is cut out from one face of a cuboidal block of side ‘a’ 1
cm, such that the diameter of the hemisphere is equal to the edge of the cube. The
𝑎
surface area of the remaining solid is 6a2 +𝜋 .
4
Reason (R): The remaining surface area includes the surface of the cube and the curved surface of
the hemisphere.
Section B
Section B consists of 5 questions of 2 marks each.
21 The lengths of two ropes are 84 meters and 126 meters. They need to be cut into smaller pieces of the 2
same length. What is the maximum length of each piece?

23 A book contains 85 pages, A page is chosen at random. What is the probability that the sum of the 2
digits on the page is 8?
24 Determine if the points (1,5),(2,3)and (-2,-11) are collinear. 2
25 A city council wants to place a billboard along a main road that runs between two points, A(2,3) and 2
B(8,15), on a coordinate grid where each unit represents 10 meters. The billboard should be
positioned at a point that divides the road in the ratio 2:3, closer to point A. Find the coordinates of
the location where the billboard should be placed.

(i)The top of the Colosseum has a conical shape with a height of 24 meters and a radius of 32
meters. What is the surface area of the conical portion, excluding the base? 2
(ii)A model of the Colosseum is being constructed at a scale of 1:100. The height of the
cylindrical portion in the model is 48 cm, and the radius is 50 cm. Calculate the volume (in dm)
of the cylindrical portion of the model.
OR
The model of the Colosseum is made from a material that weighs 8 grams per cubic
centimetre. Calculate the weight (in kg) of the model's spherical dome, if the dome's radius in 2
the model is 50 cm.
37 A workshop is being conducted over a week (7 days), where participants spend increasing amounts of
time on different tasks each day. On the first day, the total time spent on all tasks is 30 minutes. Each
subsequent day, the time spent increases by 10 minutes. The
participants aim to complete a set of tasks by the end of the week,
using this time progression. Answer the given questions below:
(i)On which day did the participants spend exactly 70 minutes.
on tasks? 1
(ii)What is the total time spent on tasks by the end of the 6th
day? 1
(iii)If the workshop continued for 10 days instead of 7, and the
participants followed the same time progression, by what day
would the participants have spent a total of 600 minutes? 2
OR
If the total time to complete the tasks on Day 1, 2, and 3 combined is used to complete a
smaller set of tasks, how much time would be left to complete the remaining tasks by the end
of Day 10?
38 A bird is perched at the top of a tall 80-meter-high tree. From a point on the ground, the observer initially
observes the bird at an angle of elevation of 45°. After 2 seconds, the bird flies horizontally, maintaining
a constant height of 80 meters above the ground. As the bird moves, the angle of depression from the
bird’s position (after it has flown horizontally) to the point on the ground decreases to 30°.
