DAY 1
Once I reached the hospital, I was greeted by Khun Nueng, who had given
me my schedule for the entire week. He very kindly showed me to the
dentistry department and asked me to wait, until Khun Jiap and Khun Robert
welcomed me with open arms. I was with Khun Robert almost the entire day,
where we looked at the digital point of view of dentistry, and how technology
has made dentistry somewhat easier. He showed me various digital platforms
in order to 3D print a crown for implants, and was kind enough to let me try
doing one on a model. I saw how a crown is made using 3 different printing
materials, each for a different purpose, and was allowed to watch a doctor
implanting the fake crown on a patient. The patient seemed to be happy with
the result with minor changes to be made.
Post lunch, I visited the diabetic wound centre, where I came across different
cases of diabetes, and how it can be cured 75% of the time. Due to privacy
reasons, I wasn’t allowed to go any further than the information centre. The
cool stuff about the diabetic centre was that it had its own operating room,
its own cashier, and its own registration place, so patients wouldn't have to
move around that much. Luckily Phi Sai, my coordinator was kind enough to
take me to the emergency room, but due to an ongoing case, I wasn’t allowed
to enter the emergency room either. So, she took me to the IVF centre just to
look around and have an idea of where every department is. Overall it was a
fun day!
DAY 2
On this day, I was introduced to P’ Tom, the Manager of the Medical
Inquiry and Reporting Department and Dr. PP alongside P’ Nurma and P’
Akrom. They were such sweet souls, they gave me a whole desk just to
myself with multiple computers. P’ Tom first introduced me to different
types of reports that can be written using different platforms. One of them
being Electric Medical Records (EMR) system called CENTRIX, this platform
was very cool, as it had all the necessary information regarding the
patient, and their whereabouts. P’ Tom taught me how to write a medical
report about a case, she also told me about the Personal Data Protection
Act (PDPA), and how every hospital in the world must follow it. It was
surprising how these people are not doctors but do everything a doctor
does like making a report, which is their primary job, but also contact
multiple units in order to gather information that is missing.
Dr. PP was literally my favourite, she explained to me different surgical
procedures, and different ways, you can identify a surgical procedure by
its prefix and suffix. It was so fascinating to know how the Doctors use
medical abbreviations and learn about some medical words, which are
useful for my nursing career as this will be one of my daily tasks to read
the Doctor’s note in every day round visit. Some of the things I was
familiar with, like the components of blood and the structure of the heart,
which made it so much easier to understand the cases. She even allowed
me to write a report myself which I wouldn’t trust myself doing just yet,
but she was so supportive and calm the whole time. I really enjoyed
working with the utilizing team and look forward to use these skills in the
future.

DAY 3
On this day, Khun Nueng came by and escorted me to the pharmacy
department, where I was introduced to Khun Nay and Khun Soraya. They gave
me a presentation on how their department works and an overview of their
workload. They were kind enough to take me to every pharmacy department
in the hospital and educate me about their system. One thing I liked about
this department was how organized they were with their work, which they
had to be because high-alert medications and cytotoxic medications are
stored, I also visited the chemotherapy room, which was used to make the
chemotherapy chemicals.
After my lunch break, I went to the Orthopedic centre, where I had a chat
with an Orthopedic Surgeon, Dr. Prach, who told me about his experience in
the hospital, and how he balances his work life with his social life. He also
asked me about my interests and suggested that I look around other
departments to know for sure which department is the best fit for me. Upon
finding pout about my interest in surgery, he contacted HR, and asked them if
I could observe a surgery, which fortunately they allowed me to the next day.
I was so thankful to him, because watching a surgery at this age wouldn’t
have been possible at any other hospital.
ACTIVITIES 9
Ecological Survey
As part of my ecological research project, I conducted a detailed survey to
investigate the biodiversity within a local pond ecosystem. Our team collected
multiple water samples from different areas of the pond, carefully preserving
them for microscopic analysis. In the lab, we identified various
microorganisms, including daphnias, which are tiny freshwater crustaceans,
and euglenas, single-celled organisms that can photosynthesize. Through this
process, we were able to establish a simple food chain, with euglenas serving
as producers, daphnias as primary consumers, and other small aquatic
predators feeding on the daphnias.
This research not only expanded our knowledge of the pond’s ecological
dynamics but also provided an opportunity to apply theoretical concepts we
had been studying. By observing the relationships between organisms in the
water samples, we confirmed the presence of expected species and the roles
they play in maintaining ecological balance. The survey was an insightful
experience, demonstrating the importance of hands-on research in
understanding the complexity of natural ecosystems.
SPORTS:
Basketball
I had a difficult time breaking into the basketball team as a freshman and
frequently felt like the weakest player. It was deterring, but I refused to
give up; instead, I focused my annoyance on practicing nonstop. By my
junior year, I had proven my worth as one of our school's finest athletes
and was thus elected team captain. Achieving two tremendous tournament
triumphs with our squad is something I will always be proud of. I learned
so much about endurance and leadership from this sport. I gained insight
into leading and inspiring my teammates, and I realized that mental
toughness is just as important as technical proficiency in conquering
challenges. Beyond my personal development, I also enjoyed coaching our
school's younger teams. Coaching them, imparting my skills, and
witnessing their advancement has been immensely fulfilling. I'm thankful
for the opportunity to share my love of the game with others, as my
experiences on the court have made me a more resilient leader.
Football
Football was a completely new sport for me,
one that I had never played before. When I
first joined the team, I felt nervous and
unsure, especially since most of my
teammates were more experienced. However,
I knew that with hard work and
determination, I could improve and succeed. I
dedicated myself to learning the game—
attending every practice, studying strategies,
and working on my skills outside of regular
sessions.
Slowly but surely, my effort started paying
off. I began performing well in matches,
gaining confidence with each game. My
coaches noticed my progress and saw how
adaptable I was on the field. As a result, they
trusted me to play multiple positions, giving
me the opportunity to showcase my
versatility. Whether in defense, midfield, or
attack, I gave my best and contributed to the
team’s success. Football, though once
unfamiliar, became a sport where I thrived, all
thanks to my dedication and determination.
