Course Outline

 A course outline for a class of 12 elementary adults, following the Trinity grade 3 syllabus.
 The students attend two 90 minute lessons each week. The school requires you to divide the week into Reading and Writing on Tuesday, and
Listening and Speaking on Thursdays.
 The school has class sets of books called 'Elementary Listening Tasks' and 'Elementary Reading Tasks.' These are not course books but you can use
material from them if you want to.

Course Aims:
 By the end of the course, students will be able to conduct simple conversations on everyday topics.
 They will have improved their understanding of the uses of the present continuous and present simple, and started to use the past simple.
 They should also be able to use simple links such as and, and then, but and because.
 There will be a strong emphasis on pronunciation throughout the course.
Objectives:
 Students will achieve these aims through reading and listening comprehension practice and a range of speaking and writing activities.
 Students will give short presentations in pairs at the end of the course.

1 Getting-to-know-you activities/Needs analysis Aims: To expand and practise language for talking about basic
personal information
Activities: 1. Short listening comprehension – interviewer asks

Grammar: Asking each other simple questions about everyday life.
Pronunciation: Focus on the use of contractions (e.g., I'm, isn't, he's,
etc.). Basic stress and intonation patterns for words, short sentences
and simple questions.
