through research and innovation.
General Instructions: Read, analyze, and answer the following problems for
each indicated topics. Provide your solution clearly and round your final answer to
the nearest hundredths. Each problem has its corresponding points indicated at
the end.

I. Frequency and Periodic time (total points = 22 pts.)

1. Determine the periodic time for the following frequencies: (3 pts. each)
(a) 2.5Hz; (b) 100Hz; and (c) 40kHz
2. Calculate the frequency for the following periodic times: (3 pts. each)
(a) 5ms; (b) 50µs; and (c) 0.2s
3. An alternating current completes 4 cycles in 5ms. What is its frequency? (4 pts.)

II. AC Values (total points = 18 pts.)

1. Calculate the RMS and mean values of a sinusoidal curve with maximum value
of 300 V. (6 pts.)
2. An alternating voltage is triangular in waveform, rising at a constant rate to a
maximum of 300 V in 8 ms and then falling to zero at a constant rate in 4 ms. The
negative half cycle is identical in shape to the positive half cycle. Provide the graph
and calculate (a) the mean voltage over half a cycle, and (b) the RMS value. (12
pts.)

III. Functional Transformation (total points = 20 pts.)

1. An alternating voltage is given by v = 282.8 sin (314t) volts. Determine the
following:
(a) amplitude; (2 pts.)
(b) the RMS voltage; (3 pts.)
(c) the frequency; and (3 pts.)
(d) the instantaneous value of voltage when t = 4 ms (7 pts.)
2. If v 1=30 sin ⁡(ωt +10 ° ) V and v 2=20 sin ( ωt+ 5 0° ) V, which of the following statements
is/are true? Provide justification for your answer and find the phase difference. (5
pts.)
A. v 1 leads v 2
B. v 2 leads v 1
C. v 1 and v 2 are in phase
