Round off 1365 to the nearest hundreds => 1400 (Ans)
Round off 1365 to the nearest thousands => 1000 (Ans)

2) Add 1235 and 2975 rounding off to the nearest hundreds

=> Rounding Off 1235 + 2975 = 1200 + 3000 = 4200 (Ans)
=> 1235 + 2975 = 4210 => Rounding off 4210 = 4200 (Ans)

Ex 9D:
3) distance in 1st hour = 36 km =
distance in 2nd hour = 40 km =
distance in 3rd hour = 38 km

5) Total distance = 100km

distance travelled by bus = 33 km = 101/3 km
distance travelled by train = 100 - (101/3) km (Ans)

6) Total time Sachin batted = 13/5 hrs

time batted with Ganguly = 4/3 hrs
remaining time he batted with Rahul Dravid
Time batted with Dravid = (13/5 - 4/3) hrs (Ans)

7) speed = 216/7 km/hr => 216/7 km travelled in 1 hour

distance travelled in 9/2 hours = (216/7) x (9/2)
or,
speed = distance/time
time = distance/speed
distance = speed x time => distance = (216/7) x (9/2) km (Ans)

8) total price money = 21,00,000/-

cost of house = 3/7 of 21,00,000 = (3/7) x 21,00,000 = 9,00,000
cost of the car = 3/14 of 21,00,000 = (3/14) x 21,00,000 = (3/2) x 3,00,000 = 4,50,000
money deposited in bank = 21,00,000 - (9,00,000 + 4,50,000) = 7,50,000/- (Ans)
Chapter 10:
Ex 10A:
15) b) 51.175 = 51.18 (hundredths) = 51.2 (tenths) = 51 (whole number) (Ans)
c) 100.125 = 100.13 (hundredths) = 100.1 (tenths) = 100 (whole number) (Ans)

Sol: 94.8 - 64.025 = (Ans)

Ex 10G:
9) Given:
Cost of one pair of shoe = 1190.90/-
Cost of one pair of socks = 30.15/-
Cost of a t-shirt = 495.5/-
Find:
Total money spent by Mr. Gopal = ?
Sol:
Price spent on shoes = 2 x 1190.9 = 2381.8/-
Price spent on socks = 30.15 x 4 = 120.6/-
Price spent on t-shirt = 6 x 495.5 = 2973/-
So,
Total money spent = (2381.8 + 120.6 + 2973)/- = 5475.4/- (Ans)

An automobile costs 10,00,345.5463/-. If the insurance added on the automobile is
25% of the cost of the automobile, find the total amount that has to be paid for the
automobile
Solution:
The length of a cuboid is 5 times the diameter of a circle, while the height of the
cuboid 3 times the radius of the same circle. Now if the radius of the circle is 6cm
and the breadth of the cuboid is equal to 20cm, find the area of the circle and
volume of the cuboid
Given:
Radius of the circle = 6cm
Diameter of the circle = 2 x 6 = 12cm
Length of the cuboid = 5 x 12 = 60cm
Breadth of the cuboid = 20cm
Height of the cuboid = 6 x 3 = 18cm
Sol:
So, the area of the circle = pi x radius x radius = (22/7) x 6 x 6 = 113.14 sq. cm (Ans)
And, volume of the cuboid = l x b x h = 60 x 20 x 18 = 21,600 cu. cm (Ans)
