The Royal Enfield Bullet has the longest production run of any motorcycle having remained continuously in production since 1948.The Bullet marque is even older, and has passed 75 years of continuous production. The Royal Enfield and Bullet names derive from the company's links with the Royal Small Arms Factory in Enfield. Problems with Royal Enfield Bullet

-Poor design of the plates on the tank which also inherits another problems . -Some strange noises observed when get to the reserve fuel level, noises from the engine resonates in to the tank and adds few more decibels to the existing noise. Solution-Add rubber rings between the plates of the tank and chassis. Keep fuel more then 6 Liters. -Front fork sleeve scuffing due to poor workmanship. Needs some spacer to be inserted from down which would align the sleeve with the fork as to get equal clearance throughout and then tighten the sleeves. RE is designing a shorter sleeve to overcome this issues but that remains to be seen. -Air circulates all over the Air Filter box before entering the intake hose. Air filter is not directly bolted on to the intake. The problem arises due to exposed area(specially the hinge where it has gaps and no seal is provided to cover it) inside the box where it sucks in mud and water from outside and mixes with the clean air coming from the filter. Which is fed straight into the engine. -Rear brake pedal design-the pipe itself is too thick and specially on CL5 with 18inch tyre in front things dont get better but a bit better on CL350 with 19 in front. The issue is only while riding up/down hills. Cause- The brake pedal is to low and touches on the road on a sharp turn Solution-RE needs to design either a slimmer brake pedal lever or relocate it in a different way -Black smoke on cold startups- According to EngineersFirst lot of engineers Its due to mapping as the engine is running rich. Second lot of engineers- due to wrong temperature range plugs. Third lot- Actually its normal for a bike to emit black smoke in colder weather.

-Whining noise from LH side chamber(broken chain tensioner)- Noticed the noise around 3200km, upon inspection it turned out to be a broken chain tensioner. Waited 5 days for the part

as they never had a problem with TBTS so never bothered having the part. After fitting the new tensioner, noise returns after 60km. On inspection nothing serious or broken except chain has hardly or no play at all. Chain replaced, noise goes away. Within 15km ride it haunts me back. On inspection the chain is to tight, virtually no play at all.

Royal Enfield Thunderbird

The Royal Enfield Thunderbird is a cruiser style motorcycle produced by Royal Enfield Motors in India. It was introduced in 2000 with an AVL lean burn engine and five-speed gearbox. It is an Indian market model that has never been exported. A 500 cc prototype was also created and tested, but it never saw mass production. In 2009, the AVL semi-unit engine is replaced with the new 350cc unit construction engine (UCE). The bike was renamed Thuderbird Twinspark owing to the twin sparkplugs in the UCE engine. Thunderbird is the first bike to debut the 350 cc UCE engine. Other parts have seen only minimal changes from the original Thunderbird. The final drive chain is moved to the right side and it is the most obvious change from the old model apart from the new engine itself.
