Tech_Draft_2D-Lesson-1

The AiTECH Walkthrough is a technical drafting training program aimed at teaching trainees to interpret technical drawings, draft layouts, and prepare both 2D and 3D computer-aided drawings. The program emphasizes the importance of accurate technical drawings in manufacturing and introduces the use of software like AutoCAD for computer-aided design and drafting. It also provides an overview of AutoCAD's features and user interface to facilitate the design and construction process.

The AiTECH

Walkthrough
A TECHNICAL DRAFTING TRAINING PROGRAM
PROGRAM OUTCOMES
At the end of this program the trainee should be able to:

• Interpret technical drawings and plans*

• Draft architectural layout and details
• Draft electrical layout and detais
• Prepare 2D computer-aided drawings
• Prepare 3D computer-aided drawings
• Develop an architectural working drawing of a two-storey
residence
INTRODUCTION TO
AutoCAD 2016
LESSON 1
People in manufacturing understand
the importance of technical
drawings. Good technical drawings
can often reduce the risk of significant
delays in production as well as guard
against the danger of ending up with
an inaccurate gear. Technical
drawings must be accurate, and
drafted according to industry
standards.
Drawing is the principal / universal
language that everyone could
understand. Drawing or illustrating
techniques vary in style. However, a
standard method of drawing is observed in
making industry grade illustrations for
constructions, manufacture and
architectural purposes. This is called
Computer-Aided Drafting & Design.
Architectural drawings can be grouped into three basic types

Drawing as idea generation

Drawing as a design and presentation medium
Drawing as a guide for the construction

Idea Guide for Presentation

Generation Construction Medium

W. Otie Kilmer (2003)

In this modern age, Technical
Drafting is produced with the use
of different computer aided
design software such as :
AutoCAD, Solid Works, and CATIA .
These are commercial software
that are generally available in the
market but there are also similar
software available for free (open
source softwares) like Google
SketchUp, Blender 3D, etc.
CADD
Computer-aided design & drafting
(CADD), also known as computer-
aided design (CAD) or computer
aided drafting (CAD) is the use of
computer systems to assist in the
creation, modification, analysis, or
optimization of a design.
CADD
Computer-aided drafting describes the process of creating a
technical drawing with the use of computer software. CAD software is
used to increase the productivity of the designer, improve the quality
of design, improve communications through documentation and to
create a database for manufacturing
AutoDESK
A leading provider of computer-aided design (CAD) software, founded
in 1982. It introduced AutoCAD in its first year, and three years later,
became the first PC CAD company to go public. The company has
since expanded its product line to include design software for
multimedia and home improvement. The company has more than four
million users in more than 150 countries, and its products are available in
more than 20 foreign languages

AutoCAD

 AutoCAD is a computer-
aided design (CAD) program
used for 2-D and 3-D design
and drafting. AutoCAD is
developed and marketed by
Autodesk Inc. and was one
of the initial CAD programs
that could be executed on
personal computers.
AutoCAD

AutoCAD is a commercial product

made by Autodesk, with many

versions, including one called

AutoCAD Architecture. AutoCAD

Architecture has purpose-built

features specifically designed for

architectural drafting.
AutoCAD
In addition to design tools for initial architectural conceptualization, it
offers tools to make building renovations faster and easier. Productivity
tools include those that reflect the actual design of walls and other
structures. AutoCAD is able to maintain precise dimensional spacing
among components such as walls, beams, columns, and doors.
AutoCAD Architecture offers a library of pre-built components to help
speed up and automate the design and construction process.
