Site Information
Dogs
Well behaved dogs are allowed by prior arrangement. Please
keep dogs on a lead on Nethergong land, as not all children
or campers love dogs. Please pick up your dog’s poo and
deposit in a general waste bin.
Water Safety
Nethergong is surrounded by a river and dykes. We
also have two large ponds. These are not suitable
for swimming in. Please make sure your children
are water safe. The frog pond in the corner of the
main field is never more than a few inches deep and
suitable for pond dipping. Never leave young children
unattended though.
The Rules
We have few rules as we are confident that our campers will treat each other, our
staff and the land with respect. However there are three rules we insist on:-
1. We do not allow amplified music at any time. Please respect your
neighbours’ desire for peace! Large groups please be aware of noise levels
late in the evening – other campers may be trying to get their children to
sleep
2. Please look after our trees and our wildlife – no tearing branches off and no
chasing the ducks
3. Please keep your dogs on leads at all times. We find that dogs running loose
tend to poo unnoticed – not nice when children are running around
The Café, Shop and Pizza Oven
Our café serves great coffee and other drinks, pastries and bakery items. Opening
hours are displayed on the door. Our camping shop stocks all the camping
necessities such as marshmallows!
Our Italian wood-burning pizza oven is located next to the café and serves pre-
ordered pizzas every Friday night (and Mondays too during school holidays.)

Facilities
• The main set of showers, toilets and washing up is located halfway up the site.
We also have additional toilets at the back of the café. A second set of showers,
toilets, washing and clothes washing facilities is located past the polytunnel
next to the house. These are always quieter than the main shower block
• Drinking water taps are situated on the side of the shower block next to the
house, at the back of the café opposite the ladies toilets and outside the main
shower block. All water on site is suitable for drinking
• Recycling and non-recycling waste bins are by the main gate. Please do not put
black sacks in the recycling bin
• If you have any food you want to keep chilled or frozen you can use the fridge/
freezers in the washing-up areas. Fridges are regularly cleared of out of date
food.
• Pre ordered logs and firepits will be delivered to your pitch before you arrive. If
you need more logs they can be bought and collected from the shop, outside
shop hours there are a few bags left in the log store between the shop and the
pizza oven. Please sign the honesty sheet and pay the next morning
• There are charging points on the side of the pizza oven and outside the café
Nethergong Campfire Safety
Please read these safety tips
• Keep a bucket of water close to the campfire in case it gets out of hand and
keep plenty of distance from your camping tents.
• Children love fires! Never let children add wood to the fire, as they will become
too relaxed about it and next thing they want to put a forest on there.
• Never leave the campfire unattended. Very important campfire safety tip to
prevent the fire from spreading.
• Douse the campfire completely before going to sleep by pouring water on the
burnt embers.
• Build a campfire with kindling to get it started, there will be no need for fuels.
• Ensure no canisters, gas, hairspray or alcohol
based products are close to the campfire to prevent
explosions.
• If you intend to cook using the campfire, the
safest way to cook is by using a cooking tripod.
Please do not tear or saw branches from our trees!
Most of the trees at Nethergong were planted in the
mid-nineties by Jed’s father and are nowhere near mature. We love our trees!
Green wood does not burn anyway. You are welcome to pick up any kindling on the
floor.

Boating
Our five rowing boats are rented to campers on
Saturday mornings and other days in the school
holidays. Please obey the boating rules for your safety.
Lifejackets are provided for children, who must be
accompanied by an adult.
Fishing
We offer recreational fishing in our lake, which is well
stocked with Carp. Fishing is free for campers and can
be carried out whenever the boats are not rented out.
Children under 15 must be accompanied by an adult.
Our Wildlife
You will see wildlife everywhere at Nethergong. Please
respect all the wildlife you see at Nethergong and in
particular take notice of the pond dipping for frogs
rules displayed by the side of the frog pond.
