Dear Members of the Committee on Academic Standing,

I am writing to request that the course be dropped from my current semester course load due to
mental health-related crises that have impacted my ability to keep up with the course
requirements. Specifically, I have been dealing with mental breakdowns and mental health crises
that were triggered by the combination of a family emergency relating to my sister as well as
matters in my personal life that had occurred during the midterm period. Unfortunately, these
events have prevented me from completing the exam for the course.

I’ve attempted to keep up with the course material despite my personal struggles, and as I am
overloaded on my course load — taking 5.0 credits this semester — had struggled to evenly
focus on all my courses.

I recognize that dropping this course would have implications for my academic progress, but I
