Autodesk® Fusion 360 CAM in the cloud is a reality with Fusion 360.
Our Autodesk CAM tools are now completely integrated inside
Fusion 360, enabling the next generation design-to-manufacturing
workflow. Fusion 360 allows you to take advantage of collaboration
tools and shared data storage with unparalleled ease-of-use and
flexibility when creating programs for your milling machining
projects. Fusion 360 is a multi-platform solution that truly
transcends the limitations associated with traditional desktop
workflows.
All files needed to complete the exercises in this guide and be found
in the CAM Samples A360 Project: CAM Mania 2015
Overview:
16. Ensure the Tool Tab is selected on the Face Toolpaths dialog
17. Select the Select… button to open the Tool dialog
22. Enable the Stock selection to view the stock for simulation.
23. Click the Simulation - Play button to verify the toolpath.
Overview:
6. Click the Geometry tab and select the 3 pocket edges as shown.
Ensure the red arrows indicate the inside of each pocket.
Let‟s use the same Adaptive Clearing toolpath to rough the outside
of the part. We will copy and paste the Adaptive Clearing toolpath
then change the geometry.
14. Right click on the new 2D Adaptive1 (2) toolpath and select
Edit from the drop down menu.
15. Switch to the Geometry Tab and select the “X” button next
to “Pocket Selections” to clear the current pocket geometry.
16. Select the edge at the bottom of the chamfer, as shown below.
HSM has included the entire edge around the periphery of
the part. Notice that the stock boundary has also been
included to indicate the region of material to be removed.
17. Switch to the Heights Tab and in the Bottom Height option,
select “Model Bottom” from the pull down menu.
By default, CAM will use the selected geometry as the
toolpath depth (Bottom Height). There are many options to
ensure flexibility when setting toolpath parameters.
18. To ensure the bottom of the tool extends past the model
bottom, let‟s add [-0.0625] to the Bottom Offset option.
Overview:
10. To ensure the bottom of the tool extends past the model
bottom, let‟s add [-0.0625] to the Bottom Offset option.
14. Click OK. CAM has quickly calculated the 2D Contour toolpath.
We will copy and paste the 2D Contour toolpath then change the
tool and depth parameters.
16. Right click on Setup1 in the browser window and choose Paste
from the drop down menu.
17. Right click on the new 2D Countour1 (2) toolpath and select
Edit from the drop down menu.
18. Ensure the Tool tab is selected on the 2D Contour (2) dialog
19. Select the Tool button to open the Select… dialog
20. Expand the Tool Type folder and select Chamfer Mill.
21. Enable the „Filter Criteria‟ button and select Diameter
22. Enter the value [.25] to filter on ¼ inch dia tools,
23. Select an ¼ inch dia 45° Chamfer Mill, then click Select.
28. Click OK. CAM has quickly calculated the 2D Contour toolpath.
29. Click Setup1 in the Browser Window, which will select all of
the toolpaths within and Click Simulate.
30. Disable the Toolpath option (to simulate with only tool view)
31. Enable the Stock options, disable Show transparent
32. Start the Simulation
Overview:
4. Use the same 1/8 inch dia tool weve used earlier, Select Open
Documents, and choose the currently opened file
5. Select a 1/8 inch dia End Mill, then click Select.
12. Click OK. CAM has quickly calculated the 2D Contour toolpath.
13. Click Setup1 in the Browser Window, which will select all of
the toolpaths within and Click Simulate.
14. Disable the Toolpath option (to simulate with only tool view)
15. Enable the Stock options, disable Show transparent
16. Start the Simulation
Overview:
1. Select Drilling from the Ribbon Bar. Let‟s Spot Drill first.
2. Tool Tab - Ensure the Tool tab is selected on the Drill dialog
3. Select the Tool button to open the Select Tool dialog
9. Click OK. HSM has quickly calculated the Spot Drill toolpath.
12. Right click on the new Drill1 (2) [Rapid out], select Edit.
13. Tool Tab - Ensure the Tool tab is selected on the Drill dialog
14. Select the Tool button to open the Select Tool dialog
19. Geometry Tab – Select the “X” button next to “Hole Faces”
to clear the current drill geometry selection.
20. Select the Cylindrical hole face, as shown.
18. Click OK. CAM has quickly calculated the Drill toolpath.
19. Click Setup1 in the Browser Window, which will select all of
the toolpaths within and Click Simulate.
20. Disable the Toolpath option (to simulate with only tool view)
21. Enable the Stock options, disable Show transparent
22. Start the Simulation
Overview:
2. Right click on the CAM Mania 2015 part and select Open.
3. When the part has been opened, Click the arrow to expand
Sketches. Right click on Sketch1 and select Edit Sketch.
The sketch is now updated and the geometry has been changed.
5. Select the green Stop Sketch button, as shown
6. Save the part and close the CAM Mania 2015 part file.
Notice that all of the toolpaths now have a red “!” on their
icons. This is an indication that there has been a change to one
or more of the toolpath parameters. In this case, we changed
the geometry that was used directly to generate the toolpaths.
10. Select Setup1, then select the Generate button to update all
The simulation step had verified that all toolpaths have been
changed in accordance with geometry edits. The Face, 2D
Adaptive, 2D Contour, 2D Pocket and drill toolpaths will work
nicely for our example part, there is no need to change any
parameters or model dimensions at this time.
Save your part and let‟s get our machine set up to run!
2. Select the destination for your Setup Sheet. Click Select Folder.
3. The HTML Setup Sheet will open in your default web browser.
