Questionnaire Evaluation

After creating my first cut for the opening 2 minutes of my film, I then organised my first test screening for my preferred target audience. For this experiment, I will be creating a questionnaire so my target audience would be able to send their message across if they had any improvements or personal opinions based on the opening 2 minutes. The questionnaire will involve various questions based on my film, which will help me to get an overall understanding of my target audience thoughts. These can vary from improvements, personal thoughts and other important notes. I will take all of these results into further account and use them to give me a better understanding of where I have gone wrong. My first question simply asked my target audience what was their first impression of the opening 2 minutes. Most of the results from my questionnaire came back quite positive. The results showed that the audience found the opening 2 minutes very dramatic and engaging. A good 75% of the results showed that the audience found the opening 2 minutes very appealing and effective. This outcome shows that I have already included the main codes and conventions which are in my particular genre. For my next question, I asked my target audience what codes and conventions have worked in my opening clip. From calculating my results, my target audience feels that the camera work was the best codes and conventions concept. Over half of the results said that the music and lighting also worked in my film which I was very pleased about. However, during the test 20 screening, I suddenly realised that I gave out 15 my first cut of my film, which did not include 10 my final titles. This was a major fault; Target Audience 5 therefore my target audience could not see or analysis my titles in my film. Therefore, I 0 Music Lighting Camera Titles have not got any feedback or results based Work on my titles. On the other hand, I can take this mistake into further account and use this to prevent myself from being less organised. Overall then, I am very pleased with the results from this question, as I know that my camera work, music and lighting are all up to standards.

Target Audience

Question 3, I asked the audience what is your most favourite scene. This question was vital as I needed to know whether the chase/running scene was very effective. The results showed that the majority of my audience enjoyed the chase scene the most. They enjoyed this specific scene as it made them very nervous and engaged. This is the exact answer I wanted, as my film genre is an action/thriller film and this was my main concept. Some of the answers showed that the audience enjoyed the fight scene at the end. Even though this scene was not very realistic, it shows that the protagonist and villain worked well together in order to make the codes and conventions effective. Next, I asked the audience what was your least favourite scene. This was a key question, as I knew my film was not perfect and up to my highest standards. Therefore, the results could show me

where the weak points are in my film. With the results back, I was not surprised by the answers. At least over half said that the dialogue at the end was their least favourite scene, as it was not very clear and a bit difficult to understand. This did not surprise me at all; I knew that this was my highest weak point, with little time spent on the scene. These results has helped me as I know where my weaknesses are and which scenes I can improve using my knowledge and skills. For my next question, I asked my target audience if they felt that the titles I used fitted into my film genre. As I explained earlier in my evaluation, I made a major mistake and showed my 1st cut in my test screening. This gave me a huge problem as my audience would not be able to see or analysis the titles I have used. Another problem was that I wouldnt receive any feedback based on my titles so I wouldnt know what I can improve on. I can take this into my further use, and I can learn from this mistake. This mistake has taught me to be more organised in a small amount of time. Moving on, my next question I asked was whether the effects I used have work in my opening 2 minutes. Very surprisingly, all of the results came back positive and all 17 students said that the effects have worked in my film. This made me realise that I have used all of the effects in the correct position according to my feedback. The feedback also tells me that the effects I have used all fit into my specific genre. I am very pleased with the outcome of the questionnaire, as it shows me that my target audience enjoyed the effects and other content. Question 9, was a very important question to me. I asked my target audience if they would pay to see my film in the cinema. This question is a very key as the feedback would show me whether or not my target audience enjoyed the opening 2 minutes. The results showed that over half of my target audience wold come and pay to see my film at the cinema. This shows that my target audience enjoys this type of film genre, and that they enjoyed the codes and conventions that I used. The results also show that my experiment was a success to my preferred target audience. The small majority of my target audience said that they wouldnt pay to see my film. This is maybe that they might not prefer this type of action/thriller film. Overall, the results have helped me to realise my strong points in my film. For my final question, I asked whether the opening 2 minutes establish my film genre. Personally, this is the most important question as the results will show me whether or not my film establish and shows my specific genre. The results showed that 100% of my target audience agreed and understood that the opening 2 minutes established my main film genre. This result pleased me as it made me realise that my film had a major impact on the audience with the key concepts and contents. The results also told me that I have used the correct codes and conventions within my opening 2 minutes. Overall, the results have helped me in many ways. They have helped me to understand the strengths and weaknesses of my opening 2 minutes. Most of the results came back positive, which gave me a good understanding of my target audience. The positive results have told me that I have used the correct codes and conventions within my film genre. On the other hand, the results that came back negative, have shown me where my weaknesses are in the opening 2 minutes. This will give me the opportunity improve on my weaknesses to meet my personal standards and expectations. Therefore, I feel like my opening 2 minutes have met my personal goals, in terms of satisfying my target audience with the codes and conventions used.
