Courtship is the act of paying attention to somebody with a purpose of
developing a more intimate relationship. It is where a man seeks the affections of a woman in various ways like giving her gifts, walking her home, or doing stuffs for her with hopes that he will eventually gain her love.
Over the past centuries, courtship has been a mark of the Philippine Romance. Courtship in the Philippines, though, is different. The man who is courting the woman must visit her at home, serve her family, keep distance from her, and the like. The courtship in the Philippines dates all the way back from the Spanish domination, and although it is still existent today, there had been various modifications brought about by time. There is indeed a huge discrepancy between the old Philippine Romance way of courting and the Westernized dating habits of the Filipino youth today. .
Research Problem Statement
Evidences of the difference between the later courtship and the modern courtship, corresponds to the situation I identified through books, journal and interview, that besides provide sustainable arguments to define the research problem. Laureta (2014) courtship before is better because before, everything is simple. Simple letters and harana really touches
the girls heart but now, its always through text and can easily be deleted but letters you could keep it forever.
Villanueva (2014) Before, men were courting the women inside the house with their parents present. They would also do household chores in order to impress the family.

to westernized culture."
Learning Point:
Today, its enough that a man shows up at the womans house without fetching water or chopping firewood. Yet, somehow, he is expected to prove to the family of the woman that he is worthy of the womans love.
Through the traditional courtship, the individuals find a bond to generations past ancestors who have lived and loved and forged relationships in the same tedious manner.

This system was rooted in the Filipino view that marriage was a union not only of two individuals but also primarily of their families. Young people were not allowed to interact by themselves without chaperons to maintain family control over them Common way to court a girl was by visiting in her house, where the young man had to be very courteous and respectful towards the girls family.
