LNG Overview

This document describes the key components and processes in a typical liquefied natural gas (LNG) liquefaction train. The train receives natural gas via pipelines, separates out liquids and treats the gas to remove impurities. It then cools and liquefies the gas in a multi-stage process using refrigerants. The LNG is stored in insulated tanks before being loaded onto ships for export. Associated natural gas liquids like propane and butane are also extracted, stored in refrigerated tanks, and exported.
