    As a result of
    On account of
    For example:

    Because she behaves well, everybody loves her.


    Because of her good behavior, everybody
    loves her.
    Since I cant read Italian, Ive had to have the
    book translated into English.
    Because of my inability to read Italian,
    Ive had to have the book translated into
    English.
    Practice
    1/ He couldnt come because of his serious
    illness.
    Because he has been seriously ill, he
    couldnt come.
    2/ My father retired last month because of his
    illness.
    My father retired last month because he
    was ill.
    3/ Tom eats very little so as not to put on
    weight.
    Tom eats very little because he wants to
    lose weight.
    Practice
    4/ Because his mother was there, I said nothing
    about it.
    Because of his mothers being there, I said
    nothing about it.
    5/ My sister gets high pay because she works
    well.
    My sister gets high pay because of her good
    work.
    6/ I have to go to the cafeteria because Im
    terribly hungry.
    I have to go to the cafeteria because of my
    terrible hunger.
