chromosomes
RESULT: The geneTic material is completely paternally
derived
90% have a 46,XX KARYOTYPE stemming from the
duplication of the genetic material of 1 sperm.
10% FERTILIZATION of an empty egg by 2
spems(46,XX/46,XY) karyotype
GROSS APPEARANCE
Delicate
Friable mass of thin walled
Translucent
Cystic
Grapelike structures consisting of swollen
edematous(hydropic) villi
COMPLETE HYFATIDIFORM MOLE
COMPLETE H.MOLE showing swollen,vesicular ,garpe like
villi.There is no fetus
MICROSCOPIC ABNORMALITIES
Involve all or most of the viloous tissue

CHORIONIC VILLI
Enlarged
Scalloped in shape with central cavitation(cistern)
Covered by extensive trophoblast proliferation that
involves the entire circumference of the villi
Marked villous enlargement, edema and
circumferential trophoblast proliferation
