Introduction

 Smart Parking System is a project that enables user

to park the vehicle in a well organised manner
without going through hectic process of searching a
parking slot.
 This system focuses on the implementation of IOT
i.e. extensive use of sensors, microcontrollers,
cameras etc. to make parking a user friendly
experience.
Need of a Smart Parking System

 With passing time there is a dire need of improvement in the

traditional parking systems as with increase in the student and faculty
density in our university, scarcity of space is evident.
 The project faces this very issue and tries to rectify this issue with a very
economical and robust solution of parking.
 The contributions of our system include:
1. Reduce time
2. Increasing space utilization
3. Improving drivers’ experience
4. Providing intelligent management
5. Saving fuel From the point of users’ view
Problem Statement

 To create a system which deals with the present and

future parking requirements of the university using
modern technologies.
 Organised management of parking areas inside the
university campus.
Project Description

 In this project we add a new dimension to the

traditional linear parking system. The project
enhances the traditional parking system by giving it
a more organised and dynamic perspective.
 This is achieved using IoT(Internet of things).
Deployment of cameras and sensors add desired
features and provide the user with an optimal
parking experience with least effort and maximum
optimization of the available space.
Project Components

 Hardware:
1. Surveillance camera
2. Arduino
3. Boom barrier
4. Ultrasonic sensors

 Software:
1. Smart Parking Interface
Proposed Implementation: Entrance Phase

 The project works on IoT.

 The cameras installed at the main gate will scan the
vehicle number plate and verify its detail on the
server.
 The vehicle details are verified and if the user is pre-
registered, boom barrier is opened, if not the entrant
is registered as a guest entrant by the security person
manually and allowed to enter the premises.
 Each entrant is provided a parking token which
specifies it’s parking location.
Proposed Implementation: Parking Phase

 When the vehicle is parked in the given slot, the

ultrasonic sensor turns on and updates the server
about the presence of vehicle.
 When the vehicle is retrieved and exits the parking
slot, the sensor updates the server which intern
updates the parking status.
Proposed Implementation: Exit Phase

 While exiting the college vehicle number plate is

again scanned and it’s exiting details are updated on
the server.
 Boom barrier is opened and car exits the premises.
Applications

 Increase in security.
 Leads to more organised and manageable parking
system.
 Time management.
 Efficient space utilization.
