OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, students must be able
to:
• identify the different functions of communication;
• demonstrate in the class on how communication
functions in different scenario; and,
• appreciate the value of communication in their
daily life through interaction with other people.
ACTIVITY
• Group Activity
• The class should be divided into two. With bodies and expression (no
words), take turns acting out on the below expressions. (The teacher
may use expressions other than those listed below). Alternately, each
group’s representative takes a piece of paper from a container. As a
student pantomime it, the opponent group guesses the action. The
group with the most correct guesses wins.

• I’m sorry.
• I didn’t do it.
• What did you say?
• Come here, quick!
ANALYSIS

• How did you find the activity? Is it
entertaining?
• Did the participants of the activity
demonstrate/ relay accurate information.
• If they hadn’t what do you think is

“I want to finish up my studies with good grades to be
accepted in a good university.”

APPLICATION
• Form five groups. In three minutes, each group will present
conversation or communication situation that highlights the following
functions.
• Group 1 – Control or Regulation
• Group 2 – Social Interaction
• Group 3 – Motivation
• Group 4 – Information
• Group 5 – Emotional Expression
ASSESSMENT
