About Town and Country Planning Department

The Directorate of Town and Country Planning has been


established as an apex body in the planning matters for the
state of Andhra Pradesh functioning under APTP Act 1920,
Municipal Corporations Act 1955, AP Municipalities Act 1965, AP
Gram Panchayats Act 1994, AP Metropolitan Region & Urban
Development Authorities Act 2016, AP CRDA Act 2014 and AP
PERA Act.
The Department is functioning with four regional Offices
(Office of RDDTPS, 13 District Offices (O/o. DTCPOs), UDAs, 14
Municipal Corporations, 72 Municipalities 24 Nagar Panchayats.
Key Objectives

 Prepare plans to achieve sustainable Development of Cities


and Towns to make as best liveable places and economic
growth engines for the State
 Preparation of GIS Based Master Plans for all ULBs and UDAs
 Preparation of Zoning Regulations.
 Preparation of Development control rules for Urban & Rural
Areas.
 To prepare plans to improve Transportation Network for
better connectivity and economic growth of Towns and cities

1 .Preparation of General Town Planning Schemes (Master Plans)
2 .Implementation of Master Plans proposals viz., Master Plan
roads, widening of Roads, Creation of Park and Play Grounds as
lung spaces, junction improvements etc
3 .Preparation and implementation of Development control

4 .Preparation and approval of Type Designs for Community and
Public Buildings, Parks & Play grounds
5 .Preparation and Approval of Road Development Plans
6 .Protection of public spaces etc
7 .Enforcement on unauthorised development
8 .Preparation of Indicative Land Use Plans for Rural Local Bodies

17. To control Unauthorised Developments to achieve planned
growth

Hierarchy of Town Planning Department In
ULB And UDA:-
Municipal Corporations:- The Town Planning Section in
Municipal Corporation is headed by Chief City Planner/City
Planner/Deputy City Planner/Assistant City Planner.
Selection Grade/Special Grade:- The Town Planning
Section is headed by Assistant City Planner.
1 st Grade/2nd Grade/ III Grade Municipality & Nagar
Panchayat:-The Town Planning Section is headed by Town
Planning Officer.
