What is broadcasting?

Kapisanan ng Mga
Brodkaster ng Pilipinas  aims to promote independent and free broadcast media,

(KBP) / Association of responsible broadcasting, enhanced public service by broadcasters,


making innovations and the development of Philippine broadcasting.
Philippine Broadcasters
 organized on April 27, 1973 (after Martial Law was announced),
with only 19 members then covered almost all radio and broadcast
stations; worked with BMC

 Broadcast Media Council (BMC) is a self-regulatory government-


appointed council tasked to formulate Phil. Broadcasting policies

 BMC, along with Martial Law, dissolved; KBP then became an


independent private sector and made its own broadcasting
standards

 The KBP represents the interests of the broadcast media to


advance free and responsible broadcast media in the 21st century

KBP Broadcasting Preamble
■ Broadcasting in the Philippines should reflect the hopes and dreams of a
freedom loving people;
■ Broadcasting is a powerful medium in shaping our country’s cultural, social
and economic growth and development;
■ Broadcasting, because of its immediate and lasting impact on the public,
demands of its practitioners a high sense of responsibility, morality, fairness
and honesty at all times.
■ Broadcasting has an obligation to uphold the properties and customs of
civilized society, maintain the respect of the rights and sensitivities of all
people, preserve the honor and the sanctity of the family and home, protect
the sacredness of individual dignity, and promote national unity.
