HUMAN RELATION

OBJECTIVES
At the end of this subtopic, each students must be able to:-
1) To explain the contents terms of human relation theory that is, name of
theory, theorist and year stipulated.
2) To describe the Key issue in the theory
3) To explain the application of human relation theory in nursing
INTRODUCTION
Name of theory:- -human relation theory
Theorist: - George Elton mayo
 year:-1942
Human relation theory-the human relation is the science of applying principles of
social psychology in improving the working of an organization and to make it more
productive and the worker happier to improve efficiency and satisfaction
The human relation theory is motivating people in organizational setting to develop
team work which accomplishes individual as well as organizational goal effectively.
THE KEY ISSUES IN THE THEORY
According to the human relation theory the key issues is concerned with the
experiments conducted by the George Elton mayo as follows:-
 Human beings are not interested only on financial gains they also needs
recognition and appreciation
 Interpersonal relationship is very important among the workers in the
organization
 Managers must understand and recognize the interaction and good relation
among the works on the job
 Also participation in decision making is important since it increase effectiveness
and job satisfaction
 Good communication among workers is also important to increase interpersonal
relationship and productivity or successful life.
APPLICATION OF HUMAN RELATION THEORY IN NURSING
 The whole discipline of nursing profession is built on peoples that continuously
interact with sick as well as human being
 Nurses have to know how to manage patients, a nurse will have to team up with
top, middle and lower level management
 The nurse also has to deal with society.it is at this level where the image of
nursing is projected, her manner of communication, approach values skills all
these matter in projecting a positive image
 Leadership and influencing people is required when nurses work in various
setting like critical care units, special care units, school health, community health
etc.
CONCLUSION
• The human relation theory enables a lot in health sectors so the health personnel
can cooperate each others in order to accomplish its goals so through this can
provide quality health care to people in the hospital, community and home.
