Santiago Seaport

Ambucao, Santiago, Ilocos Sur

INTRODUCTION

There are thousands of seaports in the world and it has been one of the means
of transportation across countries. A port is a structure located near the coast or
shore containing one or more harbors where ships can dock and transfer people or
cargo to or from land. Port locations are selected to optimize access to land
and navigable waters, for commercial demand, and for shelter from wind and
waves. Ports with deeper water are rarer but can handle larger, more economical
ships. Since ports throughout history handled every kind of traffic, support and
storage facilities vary widely, may extend for miles, and dominate the local
economy. A seaport also has one of the biggest impacts in terms of economic

DESIGN PHILOSOPHY

Design with nature and we will be with nature.

The best way to design a green architecture is to understand the way of nature, it is the
structure that blends and adjusts to the nature and not the other way around.

Source of energy

Low-E glass is made with a metallic coating

on the inside of the insulating glass unit.
This lowers the window’s ability to transfer
heat and saves energy without compromising
visibility.
Cork flooring highly compressible and resilient,
excellent thermal and sound insulator naturally resistant
to mold and mildew.

Louvers allow air to flow inside the

building while preventing the rainwater
from entering at the same time.

High glass windows allow maximum natural

lighting in order to minimize the use of
electricity.
absorbs rainwater, providing insulation,
creating a habitat for wildlife, increasing
benevolence and decreasing stress of the
people around the roof by providing a
more aesthetically pleasing landscape,
