General Procedure Medical Screening

HSEGP 11-03 h Medical Screening

Purpose
This procedure describes CNOOC SES Ltd standard and
requirements by which the medical screening is conducted and
maintained.

Provide guideline on process of medical examination to


determine whether or not the employee is fit to undertake
duties within certain given conditions and to protect the health
of the employees by identification of possible health problems
and risks to which the individual will be exposed.
 
Scope
This medical screening procedure applies to all CNOOC SES Ltd
employees, and all contractors or sub-contractors authorized to
work on behalf of CNOOC SES Ltd.

Pre-employment medical examination

Pre-placement medical examination

Periodic medical examination (Annually)

Specific exposure medical examination

Condition require medical board assessment

Return to work examination

Final pre-departure medical examination

Results of Medical Screening

The results of any medical screening shall be


communicated to the relevant management as
they could fall into one of below four categories:

A (FIT to work without restriction)

B (FIT with specified restriction)

C (UNFIT to work)

D (Awaiting Specialist assessment)


Assessment of Fitness

Fitness to work shall be determined by the medical findings, but


the evaluation may be influenced by any of the following:

•Location of the operating site and the medical services available


•Prognosis of any condition and the efficacy or potential side
effects of treatment
•Risk of relapse or acute exacerbation requiring medical
intervention
•Any adverse effects which could be precipitated by the offshore
environment
•The proposed frequency and duration of exposure of
occupational hazards
•The availability of special medical support
Assessment of Fitness

Age should not be a bar to fitness to work in offshore


locations, but must be taken into account carefully, with all
the other findings in the assessment.

The minimum age acceptable is 17 years.


The maximum age acceptable is 60 years.

Any exception for the Specialist person over 60 years


shall be decided by VP Exploitation and

60 years to follow this new regulation
