of dance
In this module, you are expected to:
1. read and analyze the types of dances and steps;
2. plan and organize dance routine based on the
topic per week;
3. record and submit the performance task online;
and
4. always practice proper safety etiquettes and
protocols at all times.
NATURE OF DANCE
Dance is an art form primary characterized by using
the human body as a vehicle of self- expression and
body form. It is based on a composition of the
different movement. Movement is usually actions
done either in stationary position or changing a
position or place.
A dancer executes a meaningful bodily movement
accompanied with certain rhythm and patterns,
tells a story by expressing strong emotions.
CHARACTERISTICS OF DANCE
Dance uses human body, extends through time, space,
force, flow, rhythm and communication. It showcases the
versatility and improvisation of the dancer through
movements.
BENEFITS OF DANCE
Dancing is a useful tool in making the body fit and
healthy, improve confidence and poise and as well as to
reduce body tension and stress.
TYPES OF DANCES
In the earlier years, dance is being used as a
form of nonverbal communication within the
people of each cultural groups and
socialization. They execute different dances to
meet their physical and spiritual needs such as
worship and thanks giving to their gods, part of
celebrations and portray their daily life
activities.
As the years passes by, the dances have evolved into:
1. Traditional Dances – dance of the purest, the dance has not been refined,
trained or guided.

10. Tik-tok – is a type of dance that originated in China that uses short music clips
with unique dance steps.
BASIC ELEMENTS OF DANCE
1. Body is what we move (body forms and shapes)
2. Energy is how we move (movement is done either flow,
weighted, still or with force)
3. Space is where we move (pathways and directions to
where the dancer is performing)
4. Time is when we move (executing the movement either
fast or slow phasing or combination)
TYPES OF MOVEMENT:
1.Locomotor Skills – Movements that bring the performer
from one place to another in any direction with the feet as the moving base
support.
Walk Run Hop Leap
Skip Gallop Slide Jump
Activity # 2. Enumerate at least three (3) proper etiquette in dancing and three (3) safety
protocols.
