Having a vision for the future helps an individual’s find purpose in

are important
Creating a vision involves four aspect of experience
(Stanley, 2012)

1. The passion and the emotion that we encounter on the road to our
desired future.
2. The motivation to keep working on certain task
3. The direction that gives us a clear path toward the realization of
our goals
4. Our underlying purpose, or the reasons we get up every morning
to do what we do
The Theory of Intention Change
(Boyatzsi, 2006)
• the process of cultivating and sustaining positive change in one’s
thoughts, feelings, and behavior to achieve one’s goal.

• The process of change involves a series of discoveries that begins with

the creation of an idea self and a personal vision for the future
The composed of three major elements:
1. An image of a desire future
2. The hope that one can attain it through self – efficacy and
optimism
3. A comprehensive sense of one’s core identity, including one’s
strengths and weaknesses.
ACTIVITY 1: IMAGENARY
ACTIVITY
This activity requires you to imagine and describe what your future
self might look like.

After this activity, you should be able to:

1.Identify ways to visualize or create or imagine your personal

vision through a guided imagery activity.
Procedure

1. Find a comfortable seat and close your eyes.

2.The facilitator begins the guided imaginary activity by slowly
reading the following instructions:
Draw your attention away from where you are seated at the
moment. Breathe in and out slowly. Imagine that there is a wide,
bright, and colorful road ahead of you. Walk along the road and
imagine that you are seeing an image of future; it may be in your
school, family, or community. Imagine all of you accomplishments
and all of your loved ones sending their well wishes like “you did a
great job.” “I’m proud of you.” “Very good,” and there’s an
atmosphere of satisfaction, fulfillment, peace, happiness, and joy.
Try to stay in that moment and experience the happiness that it
bring you. Let the image fade and slowly bring yourself back to
where you are seated. Continue to breathe in and out calmly and
bring your focus back to the classroom discussion.

4. Learning – What are the important insights that you have gained from this
guided imagery activity?

Personal Vision and its Analogy

• Have you ever walked along a dark tunnel without any beam of light? Did
you ever work on a school project without having a clear idea about
the output?
• If you want to become an engineer but you are not aware of what an
engineer is and how do you think you would feel? Confused? lost?
Vision can be described as a light in a dark tunnel that guides one’s
journey, such as an image of how a school project or a future house
might look like.

SESSION 3

Personal Vision is the Key to Personal Growth

Your personal vision is the personal statement of you

future self. Once you have identified your personal vision
statement, the greatest task is to achieve it as you strive
to live each day with a successful attitude.
These little ways are some of the steps you must take toward
personal growth. In achieving personal growth. you must:

1. Stand and make your way toward success- This speaks about you – the only
persons who is accountable for your life success and personal growth. You are the
person who will motivate yourself toward continuous growth, and who will frequently
question how worth all your life experiences are in building up success and personal
growth. At times, the same “you” will be your greatest critic and the reasons for
your ups and downs.
When difficult times arise, learn to stand still and move yourself away from the fall, and
strive to make life better. Many challenges will come along as you live in the progressing
technological arena. Despite all these, remain resilient and look back to the source of your
motivation to grow personally from your strengths.
2. Avoid making frequent excuses. The road toward personal growth and
achievement of your personal vision is not an easy one. Along the way,
you can easily just say “Well, it is over, my abilities are not good enough
to attain the goal that I envisioned. “ At times, recognizing your own
limitations can be helpful. There are lots of success stories about those who
successfully turned their limitation to their advantage. During your
journey toward success, your failures are often used as excuses against
striving toward your goal, but you must be aware of these and tell yourself
that you can still push through without any of these excuses in mind
3. Keep building your potentials for success. Remember that you alone are
responsible for your personal growth and success. There are many ways
to continuously improve yourself so that you will be well equipped to
achieve your vision and life success. Among these are:
• getting an education
• developing a love for continuous learning
• getting a diploma and certificates on different training activities (e.g.,
summer classes on sport, arts and literature, leadership, and the like).
There are all ways of building your potential for success. Getting a
mentor is also a good strategy to invest and strive for your personal
growth.
4. Look at the value of your success. When you believe that you are in the
right path toward achieving your vision and personal growth, look back and
analyze the value of your success. Weight down all the efforts and resources
that you have invested in and check them against the output of your success.
Recognize that everything that has come along the way is worth it, and that
all the hard work has paid off. Carry out this process in private so you can
have more time for yourself.
