READING
• Reading is a mental process of securing and reacting to an
author’s message represented by written or printed symbols.
• To read, one must:
recognize words
know the meaning of words
understand the ideas expressed by the author
sense the mood and tone of the selection
evaluate the accuracy of the ideas and use or apply them.

before look/ inspect
• Before looking at the entire text.

• It is using your existing knowledge that is related to the text
and connecting to the new information on the text

text structure, confirm or question predictions.
