WHAT IS A NOUN?

It is a word used to identify any class of


people, places or things (common nouns) or
to name a particular one of these (proper
noun)

Country – common noun


Germany – proper noun
SINGULAR OR PLURAL?

SINGULAR: only one noun

PLURAL: more than one noun


RULES TO CHANGE A
SINGULAR NOUN TO PLURAL
1. Most nouns become plural by adding
“s”.

Book Books
Boy Boys
Desk Desks
Car Cars
2. Nouns that end in “ch”, “sh”, “x”, “z” “consonant +
o” add “es”.

Bush Bushes
Box Boxes
Church Churches

3. Nouns that end in “f” or “fe” often change to “ves”.
