Important Milestones
1958 – India Refineries Ltd. Established.
1959 – Indian Oil Company comes into existence.
1964 – Indian refineries & Indian oil company merges to form the Indian oil corporation.
1981 – Half of India’s 12 refineries are operated by Indian oil.

R&D – Providing The Cutting Edge

 Indian Oil’s world class R&D Centre was established in 1972 at Faridabad, Haryana.

 Lube formulations –181 developed, 147 commercialized, 65 approvals obtained from


user Industries / OEMs

 MoU signed with (i) NREL, USA & (ii) Honeywell, USA, and with leading academic
institutions like IITs, Deakin University-Australia, TERI.

 Patents Active –229, Commercialized (India) –32

INITIATIVES
 Its Mission statement: "…to help enrich the quality of life of the community and preserve ecological balance and heritage through
a strong environment conscience”.

 In the past four decades, Indian Oil has supported innumerable social and community initiatives in India.

 Indian Oil has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Transparency International India (TII) in January
2008 for maintaining integrity in its operations.

Environment
 Green fuels (petrol and diesel) conforming to Euro-III emission
norms have already been introduced in 13 cities / states; the rest of the country is getting BS-II fuels.

 Invested about Rs. 7,000 crores so far in green fuel projects at its refineries; ongoing projects account for a further Rs. 5,000
crores.

 The R&D Centre of Indian Oil is engaged in the formulations of eco-friendly biodegradable lubes.

 The Centre has been certified under ISO-14000:1996 for environment management systems.

SPREADING WINGS….
 Petrochemical plants at Gujarat, Panipat, and Bongaigaon
[Petrochemical Turnover: Rs. 2,760 crore(FYE 2009)]

 Entered into Exploration business, both in domestic and


international market.

 IOCL has entered into an MOU with Nuclear Power Corporation


of India to establish a 1500-2000 MW nuclear power plant.

 Commissioned 21MW Wind Power Plant at Kachchh, Gujarat in January, 2009

 Joint Venture with Chhattisgarh Renewable Energy Development Agency for plantation of Jatropha.

 Jatropha Plantation initiated in Jhabua District of MP; Agreement with Ruhi Soya for Jatropha Plantation
in UP.

 2 Pilot solar charging stations commissioned in Uttar Pradesh in August & September 2008

 First commercial solar charging station commissioned in Orissa in December 2009
