HISTORY..
• The Hyundai Motor Company is a South Korean multinational automotive
manufacturer.
• Headquartered in Seoul, South Korea.
• Founded by CHUNG JU YUNG.
• The company was founded in 1967 DECEMBER 29 and, along with its
32.8% owned subsidiary, Kia Motors together comprise the Hyundai Motor
Group which is the world's fifth largest automaker based on annual vehicle sales
in 2012.
• In 2008, Hyundai Motor (without Kia) was ranked as the eighth largest
automaker.
• As of 2012, the Company sold over 4.4 million vehicles worldwide in that
year,and together with Kia, total sales were 7.12 million.
• Present CEO And CHAIRMAN is CHUNG MONG KOO.
• Its parent company is Hyundai motor group.

• It is the 2nd largest automobile manufacturer in India.
• Hyundai Motor India Ltd,. was formed on 6th May 1996 by Hyundai Motor Company of South
Korea.
• Hyundai Motor India Ltd’s first car is the Hyundai Santro was launched on 23rd September 1998
and was a run way success.

GLOBAL OPERATIONS
 
• Employing over 78,000 people worldwide, Hyundai Motor is implementing a new global policy
aimed at localization. This includes product development, design, sales, marketing, and
consumer services to satisfy local customers’ tastes as well as that of the global market.
• Currently Hyundai Motor has six overseas plants in the U.S., India, China, Turkey, the Czech
Republic and Russia. The company will add a seventh plant by 2012, in Brazil.
RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT CENTER

Hyundai Motor India Engineering (HMIE) is a fully owned Subsiding of Hyundai Motor
Company ,South Korea. Which is located at Hyderabad, Telangana. HMIL established HMIE in
November 2006 and contributed to the development of Hyundai Motors popular new models for the
Indian market starting with the EON and followed now by the “i” series and also in SUV segments
like the Creta. Hyundai Motors other overseas research and development centers are located in the
United States, Germany, Japan, Korea and China.

MANUFACTURING FACILITIES

• Hyundai Motors India Ltd,. Has two manufacturing plants in Irungattukottai and Sriperunbudur
in Tamil Nadu. HMIL’s manufacturing plant near Chennai claims to have the most advanced
production, quality and testing capabilities in the country.
• To Cater to rising demand, HMIL commission its second plant in February 2008, which
produces an additional 3Lacs units per Annum, rising units per annum HMIL’s total production
capacity to 6Lacs unit per annum. Current production capacity efficiency, has let to rolling out
cars in 31 sec’s, with these 2 plants in Irungattukottai and Sriperunbudur increased to 7Lacs 40
thousands Cars per year.

COMPETITORS OF HYUNDAI

• Hyundai is also a major global car maker that has grown highly popular in the Asian
markets. Apart from passenger cars and SUVs, Hyundai also brings luxury vehicles
and owns the Kia brand. 
• This is a list of the main competitors of Hyundai Motors. Major names among
Hyundai’s competitors include – Ford, General Motors, Toyota,  Suzuki,
Volkswagen, Nissan, Honda, FCA (Fiat Chrysler Automobiles), BMW &
Mercedez.
FORD MOTORS
• Ford is among the most renowned car makers of the world.
• The company was incorporated in Delaware in 1919. 
• Today, Ford Motors Company is a global brand that designs, manufactures,
markets, sells and services a large range of vehicles including Cars, trucks,
SUVs, electrical vehicles and Lincoln Luxury vehicles.
TOYOTA:

• Toyota is a major global vehicle brand and a tough competitor for Ford,
Hyundai & Volkswagen. 
• he brand is a globally well known maker of cars, SUVs and electrical
vehicles.
• North America is the largest market for Toyota, followed by Japan and Asia. 
VOLKSWAGEN:

• Volkswagen is a major car maker which has several brands in its portfolio
including luxury brands like Audi.
• There are several reasons behind the strong position of the brand in the market
including its strong financial position as well as brand image and a large
product portfolio.
• Apart from being a market leading brand, VW has a large product portfolio that
includes both passenger cars and luxury vehicles.
SUZUKI MOTORS:

• Suzuki is also a renowned brand of automobiles and motorcycles.


• Apart from them the brand also produces marine vehicles. 
• Japan is the home market of Suzuki. However, India is its largest market. In
2017, the brand sold more than 1.4 million vehicles in India.
BMW:

• BMW is another major global brand of luxury cars and motorcycles that saw its
sales and market share climbing in 2017.
•  It owns BMW, Mini and Rolls Royce brands.
• 2017 was an year of growth for the brand and China was the main driver of
growth for it.
HONDA:

• Honda is another major global maker of cars and motorcycles. 


• In the Asian markets, it is also a major direct competitor of Ford. 
• In 2017, Honda sold 3.7 Million units. This  was an increase of 1.3% over the
previous year. North America was the biggest market for Honda cars where it
sold around 1.97 million units.
TATA MOTORS:

• Tata is a major Indian brand with a global footprint which has a large and
diverse product portfolio including cars, buses, trucks and luxury vehicles.
• While India is Tata Motors’ largest market, its other major markets include
UK, US and China which account for the largest part of its Revenue.
MERCEDES:

• Mercedez is a well known brand of luxury cars and is owned by Daimler.


• Apart from Mercedesales in the booming Asian markets.
• Its sales in China have tripled within just last four yearsz cars and vans,
Daimler also makes trucks and buses.
• Mercedez is seeing growing.
RENAULT:

• 2017 was a great year for Renault in terms of overall sales and revenue. The
brand’s sales in all its market grew.
• This alliance became the world leader in sales of passenger cars and light
commercial vehicles with over 10.6 million units sold.
• Apart from China, Brazil, India and Iran are also potentially important markets
for the brand.
