History of TLD with
Military Products
 Several TLD subsidiaries have been involved with GSE military
applications but for TLD ACE, military business has always
represented a significant share of its business
 TLD-ACE has been a manufacturer of GSE for over 50 years
 TLD-ACE pioneered both Air Conditioning and Jet Starting in the mid 1950’s
 Our engineering expertise and equipment reliability, has allowed us to supply
many unique Military Programs
 We maintain close technical relationships with component suppliers-they are
involved intimately in our development programs
 TLD-ACE introduced the first screw compressor to the ground support
industry
 TLD-ACE was the first to develop air conditioning systems using R-134A
refrigerant

using environmentally safe
R-134A refrigerant.
The United States Air Force

was the first customer.

The highly successful ACE-802-329S Diesel and ACE-
802-392S Electric air conditioners, support a multitude
of Military Programs.
 About one thousand military ACE-802 have been already manufactured but thousands of
commercial versions of those units are also in the field
 On top of the three traditional modes of service (Cooling, Ventilating or Heating), the ACE-
802-329S &392S offers a Dehumidifying mode (usually called Reheat) applicable on all three
previous modes and that dries the air (a very valuable function when controlling the
temperature of electronics)

The equally successful ACE 401/801 Series air conditioners

support Military aircraft such as the B-2, E-9, RCAF F-18,
and SR-71.
 Those very reliable ECS units have been especially designed for very
demanding applications (Limited foot print, high cooling requirements and
high pressure applications)

The ultra high performance, compact

(KC-135 air transportable) version of
the ACE-401 has been used by the
USAF to support B-2 and a variety of
reconnaissance aircraft.
Simple controls and suitable monitoring

devices (with annunciation) make this
ACE-401 easy to start and forget.

Our more standard ACE-401 (small Air Conditioner) has been

used by GE SPACE (and others) to cool satellites in the buildup
room and high vacuum, space test chamber, Valley Forge PA. 10
The ACE-801
The current version of the ACE-401 is called ACE-801. It uses a

screw compressor directly flanged to a diesel engine (A09 version)
or electric motor (A10 version) as well as R134a refrigerant.
Those ACE-801 also feature the valuable Reheat function. 11
The ACE 410 Series and ACE 814 Series Liquid

Cooling Systems, support both the B-1B and AWACS
aircraft. Available with PAO or glycol fluids and diesel
or electric motor driven to meet your needs.

dielectric coolant (PAO or
Poly Alpha Olefin) for
direct contact with the

The ACE-814 (LCS)
The ACE-814 Series Liquid Cooler (LCS) represents the “state of the art” for
equipment of this type. It uses a rotary screw refrigeration compressor, R-
134a refrigerant, Ethylene or propylene glycol engine coolant, and
propylene glycol aircraft coolant. This results in a unit with ultra-high
performance that is environmentally friendly also. The LCS contains many
systems that have been engineered and integrated so that their
performance is compatible and complimentary, resulting in a highly efficient

and reliable design.

The ACE-814 (LCS)
The ACE-814 Series has highly integrated systems including structure,

enclosure, running gear, diesel engine with its support systems,
mechanical drive system, hydraulic drive system, refrigeration system,
electrical control system and liquid coolant system. The overall unit layout
provides a very compact package yet its organization assures that
maintenance items are easily accessible and the unit can be easily 15
serviced.
The TLD MPU (Multi Purpose Unit) Series units
include many GSE functions into one single unit.
The presented unit includes the following features:

3- 60 HZ , 120 amps Auxiliary Power

The TLD Military Cargo Loader (PFA-22) has a
55,000 lb. capacity and is air transportable on
both C-130 and C-160 transport aircraft.
