WHAT IS EI?

 Electronic Interlocking (EI) system is a Microprocessor based

interlocking equipment reads the field and panel inputs and process
them in a fail-safe manner as per logic and generate required field
outputs and panel outputs.
WHY EI?
1. EASY INSTALLATION AND MAINTENANCE
2. REDUCTION IN RELAYS ( BY 60 % APPROX )
3. SPACE SAVING ( BY 50% APPROX )
4. REDUCTION IN POWER CONSUMPTION ( BY 30% APPROX )
5. REDUCTION IN FAILURES ( BY 66% APPROX )
6. REDUCTION IN COPPER CABLE REQUIRED
7. RELIABILITY,AVAILABILTY,FAILURE OF SAFER SIDE, REDUNDANT
8. LESS PRONE TO SHORTCUT ( VCOR DROPS )
9. ALTERATION REQUIRED ONLY CARD CHANGE ( ONE BLOCK)
10. SIMPLER AND FASTER OPERATION WITH VDU
11. INBUILT EVENT LOGGING AND DIAGNOSTIC
12. NO AIR CONDITIONG REQUIRED COMPATIBLE WITH AC RE AREA.
MEDHA EI ADVANTAGES

 FULLY INDIGENEOUS ( MAKE IN INDIA )

 FASTER RESPONSE TIME ( < 3 SEC FOR ANY YARD SIZE )
 2 OUT OF 2 REDUNDANCY
 CENTRAL MODIFICATION NEEDED ONLY
 OFC Interface with Ring Configuration operating at 115.2 kbps
for PP/VDU Control Terminal, Object Controllers and EI
Cascading.
WHERE IT CAN BE USED ?
REDUNDANCY
1. 2 out of 2 architecture
2. 2 out of 2 system with hot
standby
3. 2 out of 3 architecture
4. Can be centralized or
distributed one.
POWER SUPPLY ARRANGEMETS
1. TWO DB’S DB1 ( 110V )
AND DB2 (24V).
2. ONE MINI IPS
3. TWO INDEPENDENT
POWER SOURCE USED.
4. 3 SEPARATE POWER
SUPPLY USED:-
TYPE A 4.5V/8AMPS
TYPE B 4.5V/3AMPS
TYPE C 4.5V/6AMPS
COMMUNICATION CABLE
1. CIU TO MT ( OFC)
2. CIU TO PP ( OFC)
3. OC TO CIU ( OFC)
4. I/P,O/P WFM TO OC
( RS485)
5. CIU TO CB ( OFC)

FAILURES
CRITICAL FAILURES
NON CRITICAL FAILURES
CRITICAL FAILURES

EI Shut Down – Without O/P Driving getting I/P

Status Eg: If receiving any off ECR without
corresponding O/P Relay (HR)
Power Supply Failure…… Fuse Blow,In sufficient
Battery bank Backup Voltage Etc
NON CRITICAL FAILURE
Relay Drive Fail ------- If Coils supply not available at Relay
(R1,R2 ) , When SystemDrives the supply

Output Relay Read Back Failure – Once Relay energized but

unable to read the front contact of the same

Input Relay Mismatch – Relay Energized & Unable to Read the

status of contact.
OC Shutdown - Forcibly Energizing the Output Relay
Communication Failure - Any Link failure RS485 /
OFC link
