WHAT IS GRIP?
Grip
Both the firing and non-firing hands grip the gun as high as possible (1). All four fingers of the
non-firing hand are under the trigger guard, with the forefinger pressed against it (2). In the
webspace between thumb and index finger of the firing hand you should feel pressure from the
grip spur (3). If the gun has a thumb safety (1911 & CZ), the thumb of the firing hand should be
placed there (4)
Grip
The thumb of the firing hand, meanwhile, is stretched along the grip and should in any case not
exert any side pressure (5). A good indication is when the thumb of the non-firing hand is
placed approximately at the level of the slide rails. It is easy to see how the wrist of the non-
firing hand is angled forward for better recoil control (6) and that the arm of the non-firing
hand is slightly higher (7).
