Question:Does
everyone on earth
speak the same
language?
• The origin of language can be a single proto-
language that slowly evolved and was
transported to different parts of the world.

The language dates back to roughly 150,000 years

ago. However, all the linguistic evidence dates back
to around 6000 years ago, when writing began.
Consequently, the major history of language is
discovered through guesses and written evidence
that is much newer than the era that the linguists
study.

LANGAUGE
ROLE
IN OUR
LIFE:
Speaking, writing and
reading are integral to
everyday life, where
language is the primary tool
for expression and
communication. Studying
how people use language –
what words and phrases they
unconsciously choose and
combine – can help us better
understand ourselves and
why we behave the way we
do.
