GENERAL INFORMATION OF THE SITE

Site is located at the 5th floor of SIR M VISHVESWARAYYA BLOCK, REVA UNIVERSITY. It is
a roof terrace and is an open, wide, flat area over that building. The flat roof is made of reinforced
concrete with a 3 feet full brick wall construction as a parapet wall above the roof, along the edge of
roof that surrounding its perimeter,
extension of exterior wall.

3
MAJOR ACTIVITIES

1. Erection of new columns to increase the height of

that building so has to include additional floors
2. The retrofitting techniques are used to raise the
columns / piers on this existing building.

4
MINOR ACTIVITIES

 There are markings with respect to all the points to add columns.

 The wall is cut carefully up to the beam level.

 Concrete at the roof beam level is hacked and removed to expose the reinforcements.

5
OBSERVATION

1.  It was observed that Built-up members were used in many structures, such as compression
members of supporting columns.

2. They are composed from two rolled U-sections or four rolled angles. The distance between
them were fixed by lacing or battening. And thus,

3. It was noticed that T - section and square section of steel are used.

6
GENERAL INFORMATION OF THE SITE

1. On 18 November 2022, a visit was organized by the

Department of Civil Engineering for the students of IV year.
The students along with 2 faculties, Prof. Srinidhi S U, Dr
Sumanth Kulkarni went on a visit to IS INFRA CONMIX
RMC plant Kannuru, Banglore.

2. As the part of Pre-Activity for this visit, a session was taken

by the faculty on the same day before the visit on “Concrete
manufacturing process and Ready-mix concrete” that students
need to understand while visiting the Plant.

3. IS INFRA CONMIX RMC (Ready mix concrete supplier in

Karnataka), Kannuru, Bengaluru.

7
MAJOR ACTIVITIES:

1. The raw material such as sand, aggregate is filled in the shallow

vessels, the cement is stored in the two of the three large
cylindrical bins i.e., in first and last bins, cement is stored and
in middle silos fly ash is stored. The aggregates used in the mix
were of 20 mm and 10 mm at plant according to the
requirement. The aggregate and sand move up with the help of
a conveyor belt and the cement and fly ash were pressurized
upward from downward with the help of air pressure.

8
The mix sand and aggregate are filled
automatically in the bucket and reach upward to the
mixture with the help of pulley system, All the
ingredients of the ready-mix concrete are the mixed and
filled in the Transits.

Admixtures are mixing either during

the mixing process or it after reaching the site and the
admixture taken in use in plant is super-plasticizers
which enhance the workability and setting of the
concrete.

9
MINOR ACTIVITIES

1. The capacity of the plant of making mix in one time is (0.5 cubic meter) and the
capacity of the Transit Mixture is 7 cubic meters. It takes up to 20-25 minutes to
fill one Transit Mixture of 7 cubic meter. The plant is completely based on
software working system which is regulatory under the observation of Operator.
Operator simply fills the data on the software according to requirement of the
client and the machines starts working accordingly.

10
OBSERVATION OF THE STUDENT AT SITE

Variety sizes of aggregates were

procured. As per the requirement the
aggregates will be used.

GGBS storage procedure was

observed. All the basic tests conducted on
the concrete were observed.
