I. INTRODUCTION
A.BASIC FACTS

-CALABARZON or Region IV-A) is one of the 17 regions in the


Philippines, located in the southern part of Luzon island. The
region's name is an acronym that stands for its five component
provinces: : Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon.

    - It has a total land area of 16,873.31 square kilometers,


making it the second smallest region in the country in terms of
land area.

    -The region is a major producer of agricultural products


such as rice, coconut, and sugarcane. It is also home to a
number of industrial parks and economic zones.

    -CALABARZON was created in 1975 under Presidential


Decree No. 824. Prior to its creation, the five provinces
were part of Region IV (Southern Tagalog).

    -The region is known for its rich history and


cultural heritage. It is home to several national
cultural treasures and important historical sites,
including the Baroque churches of the
Philippines, which are collectively recognized as
a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Region 4-A CALABARZON is composed of five provinces, each with its own
unique culture and heritage. Here are the provinces and the major cultural
groups associated with them:
  Cavite - "Historical and Cultural Capital of Calabarzon" 
    Laguna - "Resort Capital of the Philippines“
     Batangas - "The Industrial Port City of Calabarzon" 
    Rizal - "Pilgrimage Capital of the Philippines“
    Quezon - "Rice Granary of the Philippines

Region 4-A CALABARZON is known as one of the Philippines' most
dynamic and diversified economic regions, with a wide range of
industries contributing to its economic growth. Some of the major
industries in CALABARZON include: 

 Manufacturing - CALABARZON is a major hub for


manufacturing industries, including electronics,
semiconductors, automotive, and food processing. The
region is home to numerous industrial parks and economic
zones, such as the Laguna Technopark, Cavite Export
Processing Zone, and Batangas Port.

 Agriculture - The region is also an important agricultural
area, with rice, coconut, and sugarcane as the top crops.
Other crops produced in the region include fruits,
vegetables, and livestock.

 Tourism - CALABARZON is home to a number of popular


tourist destinations, including Tagaytay City, Taal Volcano,
Pagsanjan Falls, and the beaches of Batangas and Quezon.
Tourism is a growing industry in the region, generating
significant employment opportunities and revenue .

D. MAJOR INDUSTRIES
 Services - The region's services sector is also growing, with
businesses in the fields of business process outsourcing (BPO),
healthcare, and education. CALABARZON is home to several
universities and colleges, which provide a skilled workforce for the
region's growing industries.

 Construction - The region's construction industry is also thriving,


with numerous infrastructure projects and real estate developments
being implemented in the region. These include new highways,
bridges, airports, seaports, and residential and commercial buildings.

II. PORTS OF ACCESS
Region 4-A CALABARZON has several ports of access that can be used
when traveling from Manila. Here are some of the major ports in the
region:

Port of Batangas - The Port of Batangas is located in the city of


Batangas and is the primary gateway for travelers going to the
southern part of Luzon, including the provinces of Batangas, Mindoro,
and Palawan. The port serves both passenger and cargo vessels, and it
has ferry services to several destinations, including Puerto Galera and
Calapan.

Port of Calamba - The Port of Calamba is located in the city of


Calamba, Laguna. It is a minor port used primarily for the transport of
cargo and agricultural products.
Port of Lian - The Port of Lian is located in the municipality of Lian, Batangas. It is
a minor port used primarily for the transport of sugar and other agricultural
products.

Port of Lucena - The Port of Lucena is located in the city of Lucena, Quezon. It is a
minor port used primarily for the transport of coconut products.

Port of Nasugbu - The Port of Nasugbu is located in the municipality of Nasugbu,


Batangas. It is a minor port used primarily for the transport of cement and other
construction materials.

Port of Tayabas - The Port of Tayabas is located in the city of Tayabas, Quezon. It
is a minor port used primarily for the transport of coconut products.

The main port of access in Region 4 is the Port of Batangas. It is located in the
province of Batangas, about 100 kilometers south of Manila. To get there from
Manila, you can take a bus from the Cubao Bus Terminal or the Pasay Bus Terminal.
The journey takes about two to three hours. Alternatively, you can take a ferry
from the Manila North Harbor to the Port of Batangas. The journey takes about two
hours.
Bus: There are several bus companies operating in the area that provide regular services to Manila. Some of the
popular ones include JAM Liner, DLTB Co., and JAC Liner. These buses usually have designated terminals in
the respective provinces and stop at various points in Manila. 

Jeepney: Jeepneys are a popular mode of transportation in the Philippines, and they operate in the aforementioned
provinces as well. They are usually cheaper than buses and are ideal for shorter distances. 

UV Express: UV Express vans are another popular mode of transportation for commuters traveling from these
provinces to Manila. They are usually faster than buses and jeepneys and have a fixed route and schedule.

Private car: If you have your own vehicle, you can drive to Manila from any of the provinces mentioned.
However, traffic can be heavy, especially during rush hours.

Ride-sharing apps: Services like Grab and Angkas are also available in these provinces, and they provide
convenient and comfortable rides to Manila.

III. TOP 3 TOURIST ATTRACTION

Region 4-A CALABARZON is home to several popular tourist destinations that attract both local and
foreign visitors. Here are the top three tourist attractions in the region:
• Taal Volcano and Taal Lake 

       
- Taal Volcano is an active volcano
located on the island of Luzon, and it
is situated in Taal Lake, which is the
third-largest lake in the Philippines.
Visitors can take a boat tour of the
lake or hike to the summit of the
volcano to see the crater and enjoy
panoramic views of the surrounding
landscapes.
•Tagaytay City ​

         - Tagaytay City is a popular tourist


destination located in the province of Cavite. It
is known for its cool climate, stunning views of
Taal Lake and Taal Volcano, and numerous
restaurants serving local delicacies such as
Bulalo and Tawilis. Visitors can also explore the
city's cultural and historical attractions, such as
the People's Park in the Sky and the Taal
Heritage Village.​
•Pagsanjan Falls 

    - Pagsanjan Falls is a scenic waterfall located


in the municipality of Pagsanjan, Laguna.
Visitors can take a boat ride on the Pagsanjan
River to reach the falls, passing through rapids
and narrow gorges along the way. The falls are
a popular spot for swimming and picnicking, and
visitors can also enjoy activities such as bamboo
rafting and zip-lining. Other notable tourist
attractions in CALABARZON include the beaches
of Batangas and Quezon, the Enchanted
Kingdom theme park in Laguna, and the historic
city of Lucena in Quezon.​
