• 4. Andy is put in a cell with a dirt floor and only one
window. The window is too high for him to reach. The only
thing in the cell is a shovel. He won’t be able to get any food
or water and only has two days to escape or he’ll die. Andy
can’t dig a tunnel because it will take him much longer than
two days to do it. How will Andy escape from the cell?
•Andy has to use the shovel to create
a pile of dirt under the window so he
can climb up onto it and escape
from the cell.
Learning Objectives
•After undergoing through this module, you are most
likely to:
•1. Explain the effects of consumption and production
patterns on climate change.
•2. Discuss personal contributions that can actually
solve the problem of climate change.
•3. Make a stand on how the consequences of one’s
action affect the lives of others and the environment.

Module 4 :Consequences of Action to Planetary
Climate Change
Climate change is the global phenomenon of
climate transformation which are said to be
characterized by the changes in the usual
climate of the Earth regarding temperature,
precipitation, and wind that are especially
caused by human activities.
•the sustainability of the planet’s
ecosystems is under threat, as
well as the stability of the global
economy and the future of
humankind in general.

Why Is Climate Change a Problem?
Over millions of years, species become adapted to survive in the conditions in
which they live. A stable climate supports this process and allows living things
to thrive. If the climate changes quickly, organisms don’t have enough time to
adapt to new conditions and may no longer be able to survive.

Why Is Climate Change a Problem?
Climate change disrupts weather patterns and causes extreme weather
events to become more common. These include hurricane activity,
droughts and floods.
As the global temperature has increased, so has the number of reported
natural disasters.

Why Is Climate Change a Problem?
The increase in global temperatures is causing a reduction in sea ice.
This causes problems for animals that depend on the ice to hunt, mate and sleep.

We Can Help Solve Climate Change

•Simple Things We Can Do to

Help Protect the Earth
•1. Reduce, Reuse, and
Recycle + Refuse.
4r’s
•Reduce – if possible, we must stop
buying for items with so much plastic
packing.
•Reuse – cut down on what we throw
away, we might probably be able to still
use it.
•Recycle – plastics can also serve as
nursery pots rather than just throwing it
and adding piles for our community
landfill space.
•Above all, practice the bigger “R” –
REFUSE. If we can bring with us
containers for food items, we probably
can stop production of plastic waste.
2. Volunteer.
• We can spare our time to
volunteer for coastal clean-
up and other clean-ups in
our respective community.
We also all can volunteer to
get involved in protecting
our watershed by tree
planting.
3. Educate
• When we further our own
education, we can help
others understand the
importance and value of
our natural resources. We
also can attend symposia
and information drives on
environmental protection.
4. Conserve water
• The less water we use,
the less runoff and
wastewater that would
eventually end up in the
ocean. Waters from doing
laundry can also be used
in cleaning our comfort
rooms than just throwing
it.
5. Choose sustainable
• Learn how to make smart
food choices. Eating leafy
vegetables are far better than
meat. Why? We will just
perhaps hurt horse radish
(malunggay) tree for a plain
native soup but we have to kill
a chicken in order to have a
fried chicken for breakfast.
6. Shop wisely.
•Buy less plastic and bring a reusable
shopping bag. Choose to buy items
which uses less plastic
.
7. Use long-lasting light bulbs.

• Energy efficient light bulbs

reduce greenhouse gas
emissions. Stop using the
old light bulbs for it costly
on electrical consumption.
Rather use LED bulbs.
Also flip the light switch off
when you leave the room!
•8. Plant trees .

•Trees provide food and

oxygen. They help save
energy, clean the air,
and help combat climate
change. During high
noon, many would want
to stay under the shade
of a tree, but nobody
cares to plant a tree.
9. don’t send chemicals into waterways
• Choose non-toxic chemicals in the home
and office. Throw waste properly. Battery
acids should be thrown anywhere
10. Bike more..
• Drive less. Pollution comes in the
moment we start the engine of our
motorcycles and automobiles. Biking or
walking helps the environment and it
even makes us healthier.
Your Action Affects the Environment

• We all know humans impact the

environment in several ways. Common
effects include decreased water quality
due to poor water control management,
increased pollution due to improper waste
disposal, and greenhouse gas emissions
and depletion of our natural resources.
•Indeed, humans have
contributed a lot for the
worsening of our
environment which resulted
to global climate change.
