Amhara Pipe Factory PLC (APF) is the biggest among
the factories that produce plastic products in the
country since 2003 E.C. The factory is especially
manufacturing and supplying products that will be
used in the projects related with water sector
development and construction sectors according to
international standards also APF is a factory awarded
with ISO 9001:2008 quality management system
certificates.

MAIN PRODUCT OF AMHARA PIPE
FACTORY

• APF is manufacturing two broad categories of products such that Pipes


and Plastic sheets. these are
• Unplasticized polyvinyl chloride (UPVC) outside
diameter range from 16mm to 630mm and nominal
pressure from 2PN up to 16PN .
• High Density Poly-Ethylene (HDPE) outside diameters
(OD) 16mm to 315mm with different nominal pressures 6
PN to 24 PN.
• Geo-membrane Sheets Thickness ranging from 0.5mm
to 2.0mm depending on the orders of a customer. The geo-
membrane sheet is produced at the width of 6.2m to 6.5m
while the length varies up to 140 meter machine capacity.
• Green House film sheet produce various thicknesses
length and width products like geo-membrane sheet

CHALLENGES WHEN PERFORMING OUR TASKS

 The company is not well aware with internship program at


first
 The section gives more emphasis on maintenance.
 Corona virus and some local security problems limit our
internship experience
 Big waste of product due to deformity during production
 There is no greenhouse film and geo-membrane recycling
machine
 There is no chamfer making machine
 There is no greenhouse sheet film lifting machine after
finish the product units.
 Shortage of workshops and machines.
 There are no UPVC scrap hammers.
MEASURES THAT WE HAVE TAKEN TO OVERCOME CHALLENGES AND PROBLEM

 At first it was hard to work after while they


help us to involve in there daily work and
help us to develop our skill and knowledge
 To prevent corona virus Work in shift, ware
face mask and follow WHO and company
protocol
 Report to company mentor
 Try to design and model of geo-membrane
and greenhouse film shredder(recycler)

Statement of problem and justification

 UPVC recycle machine in APF is not working


out due to repeatable machine shaft failure
 There is no any manual about it and the
company has much amount of wastage of
UPVC.
 The UPVC waste has no any market and
usage that makes the problem bigger.
 UPVC machine has the highest cost and
longest process of row material production.

DESIGN CONCEPT

 The concept of design is to model and design


single shaft shredder(recycler) of PVC.

 the aim of this work is to develop a modernized


and less stressful operation for recycling of PVC
sheet waste with small cost and human labor .

 Using labor feed using prime mover of motor


and power transition by pulley belt system to
the cutter blade to reduce plastic waste also to
make recycling simple as it can be and

CONCLUSION

• The device has the ability to crush 140 Kg per haur in to


small pieces for recycle the PVC by using 2.1 kw electric
motor and by using four cutters which is mounted on the
horizontal shaft.
• The machine have big role of increasing the production rate
of the company and also it will maximize the over all profit
of AMHARA PIPE FACTORY

•This design save millions by recycling waste
plastic and reuse waste as row material in
production process not only that it contribute on
reduction of plastic waste that are produced by APF
and contribute little on global plastic waste crisis.

RECOMENDATION

•We strongly recommend Amhara pipe factory to


manufacture this design model and implement it on
company also recommend them to add another designs on
it for example silencer and automated feeder.
