MINISTRY OF INTERIOR AFFAIRS

 The Ministry of Interior has command over the four principal police
forces which operate throughout Italy, exercising its authority over them
through its Department of Public Security (DPS).
 The DPS is in charge of coordinating law enforcement action by the four
national police forces including the Polizia di Stato. Their investigations
are coordinated through the Public Prosecutor’s Office, and each one sits
structurally in a different Ministry
HISTORY

 11 July 1852
King of Sardinia Victor Emmanuel II established the Public Security
Guards
At this time, number of provincial National Guard and Municipal Militia
battalions, plus cavalry platoons detached from the army and Carabinieri
 13 November 1859
Public Security Guards became the national civil police defacto of a
unified Italian nation.
Officially introduced police inspectors into the growing force, and to
ensure the security of the residents of a number of provincial capitals and
other major cities (Law 3570).
The questori, appointed by the leadership with Royal assent, were also
introduced becoming the police chiefs of these areas
 9 October 1861
General Directorate of Public Security of the Kingdom was formally
established (Royal Decree 225).
 Italy is a member of EUROPOL since 1958.
 Italy is a member if INTERPOL since September 7, 1923.

Poliedrica Academy is the first and only school in Italy created

Goal of the Poliedrica Academy:
To support candidates in public competitions for access to roles in the State
Police, offering them an educational path that accompanies them in every

 Every major Italian town or city has a main police station (Questura) run
by the National Police

Tasks of the Public Security Department include:
 Implementing public order and security policy;

 Providing technical support for the Ministry's overall needs.

THE THREE PHASES OF THE SELECTION INTERVIEW

 In the first phase of the interview with the psychologist and expert selector,
the behavior of the candidate is observed.
 Subsequently the central phase is the recruiter will investigate personal
experiences, through specific questions.
 Finally, there is the third phase of the interview, in which the recruiter will
analyze your motivations and aspirations.
 In addition to the interview, the candidate will usually have to answer the
questions of some psycho-aptitude tests. They investigate the characteristics
of the candidate or the psychological and emotional capacities.
