Major agricultural Policies to assure Food Safety and Quality
1- Seek assurance from the exporter country that control actions along the food
value chain are sufficiently carried out.

2- Ensure that animals, plants, animals and plants products must be sourced
from permitted low-disease risk countries. All must have SPS certifications.

3- Provide access to a database that lists maximum residue level (MRL) of


pesticides and veterinary drugs in foods and agricultural products.

4- Improve the trade infrastructure .

5- Build quarantine facilities and lab support at the borders.

6-Classify foods based on international Harmonize cargo (low-risk, medium risk
and high risk food commodities.

7- Develop professional inspectors for import controls .

8- Align food imports with Codex frameworks on case-by-case basis.

9-Promote coordinated market surveillances .

10-Develop specific safety controls regarding foods that are free


of microbial contamination but pose serious health implications
(carcinogenic, endocrine disrupting…)+ the GM foods
