5G Technology: A New

Era of Connectivity
Presented to
Ms. Marzia Tamanna
Lecturer
Department of Business Administration
East West University
Introduction
• 5G networks only started to roll out in the
United States in 2018, experts believe the
potential is huge.
• The GSMA predicts that by 2025, about half of
all mobile connections will be 5G.

Specification

Meant to deliver higher multi-Gbps peak data speeds, ultra

low latency, more reliability, massive network capacity,
increased availability, and a more uniform user experience
to more users.

Higher performance and improved efficiency empower new

user experiences and connects new industries.
Requirements

The Golden triangle of 5G

technology requirements are-

• Latency
• Connection Density
• Throughput
What Makes 5G Different
Architecture
OSI LAYER 5G mobile network layer

Application layer Application service

Presentation layer Open transport protocol

Session layer Upper network layer

Transport layer Lower network layer

Network layer
Open wireless
Data link layer architecture

Physical layer
• Open transport layer perform the
operation of both transport layer and
session layer.
• Transport layer + Session layer = OTL
• Application layer is responsible for
providing good quality of service.
• Application layer makes the data into
proper format. It decrypt the data which is
in encrypted form.
 Hardware of 5g

• Uses UWB ( ultra wide brand ) networks with higher band width with
low energy levels. ( Band Width ) BW is of 4000 mbps which is 400
time faster than today wireless networks.
• Usess Smart Antena and CDMA ( Code Division Multiple Access )

 Software of 5g

• 5G will be standard unified standard of different wirekess networks, including

LAN technologies, LAN/WAN, WW, Unified IP and Seamless combination of
broadband.
• Software includes Radio, Encryption, flexibility and Antivirus.

Advantage
1. Someone using 5G phone no longer have to face the
problem of buffering while watching a video

2. 5G technology is researched and conceptualized to solve all

radio signal problems and hardship of mobile world

3. Education, medical treatment, monitoring, visualizing

galaxies, locating missing person, dictating possible natural
disaster
Disadvantage
1. Superior battery technology is required and so not
every device can support it.

2. Security and privacy issue is unsolved yet.

3. Still extremely rare in most countries

Application
The IPv6 technology
Vehicle technology is advancing
rapidly and 5G networks will help
increasement in use for autonomous
vehicles
With 5G, industrial automation
applications can cut the cord that is
necessary now because Wi-Fi does not
provide the range and go fully

Conclusion
And Recommendation

5G technology will create change revolutionary change

in the life of people.

5G technical standards need to be designed

to withstand cyber attacks, control
cybercrime and cyber terrorism.

Providing 5G planning should such that net

neutrality is ensured and digital divide
reduces.
