The document discusses air quality and air pollution issues in the states of Maharashtra and Odisha in India. It notes that air pollution in these states has increased in recent years due to factors like industrialization, urbanization, and rising vehicle usage. Major pollutants like PM10, PM2.5, SO2, and NO2 levels have risen alarmingly. Air pollution is causing health issues like heart disease, bronchitis, and tuberculosis and has resulted in over 100,000 deaths per year in Maharashtra. Solutions discussed include stricter laws, promoting electric vehicles, banning cigarettes, fining non-compliant industries, and increasing green spaces during construction.

INTRODUCTION The quality of air in Maharashtra is affected The air quality of Odisha is no better. The due to air pollution. The air is polluted more presence of dangerous pollutants like PM10 in the recent years as we are progressing with and PM2.5 are rising at alarming rates. Cities technology and industrialization. The rapid like Bhubaneshwar, Cuttack and Rourkela urbanization and increased number of have seen rapid rise in SO2 and NO2 levels. vehicles on the road also adds to the air They are severely harming the citizens who pollutants in the atmosphere. can blame only themselves for this situation CAUSES OF AIR POLLUTION According to our study, air pollution in In cities like Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and Maharashtra has mostly been influenced by Balasore, the increased movement of coal-based thermal power plants (TPP) in the vehicles, construction activities and past. Its capacity is increasing with the population rise are some of the major issues." increase in demand for electricity,” said In other places, industries, including thermal Abhijit Chatterjee, principal investigator and power plants, stone crushers, bad road associate professor, Environmental Sciences. conditions, transportation of mines etc . EFFECTS OF AIR POLLUTION It said that 1,39,118 people lost their lives in Main effects of air pollution in Odisha Maharashtra in 2019 because of air pollution. include heart diseases, bronchitis and This accounts for 16.7 per cent of the overall tuberculosis. A rise in the number of adults as deaths in the country caused by air pollution. well as children admitted in hospitals due to The State is second only to Uttar Pradesh air pollution is being observed. where air pollution took 3.5 lakh lives. The all-India figure was 17 lakh deaths PREVENTION OF AIR POLLUTION (POSTER) GOVERNMENT PLANS ● Government should formulate more stricter laws which shouldn’t be just there on paper but also be implemented. It is high time this matter is taken more seriously. ● Another form of action can be banning the use of cigarettes, making electrical vehicles more cheaper and accessible and fining factories which don’t follow norms. ● The government should make it compulsory for buildings to plant trees in their vicinity while construction. This might be a small step but will at least be a beginning towards going green. STEPS OF PREVENTING AIR POLLUTION ● Use of public transport ● Buy Energy Efficient Vehicles Like Electric ● Consider “Going Green” ● Avoid Plastic Bags ● Make use of Solar Energy ● Always Use Recyclable Products ● Quit Smoking THANK YOU

Early dimmers were directly controlled through the manual manipulation of large dimmer panels. This required all power to come through the lighting control location, which could be inconvenient, inefficient and potentially dangerous for large or high-powered systems, such as those used for stage lighting. In 1896, Granville Woods patented his "Safety Dimmer", which greatly reduced wasted energy by reducing the amount of energy generated to match desired demand rather than burning off unwanted energy.[1] In 1959, Joel S. Spira, who would found the Lutron Electronics Company in 1961, invented a dimmer based on a diode and a tapped autotransformer, saving energy and allowing the dimmer to be installed in a standard electrical wallbox.[2][3]
