Recreation from the Latin word "recreare" to refresh or restore.

Recreation refers to activities that takes place during an


experience known as leisure.
It relaxes your mind and body, relieves your day to day tension
and a universal need of man

Kinds of Recreational Activities

1.Physical Recreation
provides opportunities to develop their understanding
of the place of activity, sport, recreation and fitness in
their present life, further education, workplace and in the
wider community.
2.Social recreation
Social recreation consists of different activities that people take part in with
others.
These recreational activities are often things like: sports, art, dancing, travel,
photography, movies and community service.
It really is just an opportunity for people to get together who have similar
interests and enjoy leisurely time doing something they love.
Activities are often done for fun, enjoyment, amusement and pleasure.
3.Cultural Recreation
Culture and recreation provide the means to build social capital. They can
take the form of arts or recreational programs, and community events or
celebrations such as festivals, parades and block parties. They provide
opportunities for sharing the various forms of diversity that comprise a
community.
4.Intellectual Recreation
Activities with predominantly cognitive efforts were classified as
intellectual activities, whether they are conducted in groups or alone.
Recreational activities referred to activities with low cognitive or physical
efforts, and were not necessarily conducted in a group gathering or
requiring social interaction
